Sharapova challenges a serve but it's reviewed and is on the line. 40-0 now...and there it is, Game win to nought or whatever, and Williams flies into a one to nothing set lead here.

Sharapova starts the 2nd set serving. But loses game, 15-win.
1-0 Williams.

Oh a poor shot there from Sharapova straight into the netting. And Williams takes the game, despite hitting the netting herself earlier on. 2-0

Sharapova good play there, trying to salvage something from this Williams onslaught. She's 40-15 up. And she takes the game. 2-1

Oh that was a poor play from Williams and Sharapova goes 0-15 up. 15-30 now. 15-40! Oh 40-all now. Best game so far... The crowd cheers following a lovely pot by Williams right on the line. Advantage her. What's happening now? I'm not sure. Yes, yes, it's a Williams win. A bit of drama there, a challenge or something. 3-1

Not much of a match really. Sharapova has next to none in the seats provided to her too.

It's break point for Sharapova. 40-all. An ace from Williams. Another challenge from Sharapova. And yes she is awarded it. Advantage Sharapova. Back to 40-40. Game Williams 5-1

Sharapova is serving to save herself. But it's surely too late now.

Huh? Commentator just said Sharapova has won just one set in a year! That can't be right, surely?

Sharapova appears to be having a niggling injury problem here.

And there it is. 6-1 6-1 to Williams. The players exchanging handshakes. Williams says something but Sharapova doesn't appear to speak. Williams goes for an on-pitch interview with the crowd cheering. Sharapova immediately left the pitch and the camera tracked her walking alone down the corridors to her changing room. She now drops out of the Top 100 world ranked players. Williams is quite complimentary about Sharapova in her interview and is smiling broadly.

Huh? Commentator just said Sharapova has won just one set in a year! That can't be right, surely? She hasn't been playing much and she hasn't been playing well. I don't think she'll ever get close to another major championship again, she's done for.

Got day tickets for Arthur Ashe on Tuesday, catching Osaka. Nice! That's sweet. Where's the seats? Is it a night time match? Did they put a retractable roof on a couple of years back? It’s the day session tomorrow, Section 110. I get Osaka first, and then Dominic Thiem in the 2nd match. Two very exciting players and I can’t wait!

Looks like Sharapova ran out of PEDs.
