I'd say true even though I love both franchises.
But J.K. Rowling is a woman of integrity unlike anyone in Lucasfilm, who only care about making money and selling toys and action figures. You'll never catch anything Harry Potter with the $isney logo on it. When she says the story is done, she really meant the story is DONE.

False.
The first 4 Harry Potter movies are good but I dislike the last 4. Largely due to the very very bland directing. I think it was a huge mistake to split the last two. Part of my problem with this franchise is that it is just way to drawn out.

In 40 years, I expect the Harry Potter franchise to be a lot like how the Star Wars franchise is today. J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. have such a huge and interesting wizarding world in their hands and there are so many places you can take the franchise. You could remake the Harry Potter movies into a TV series. You could make a backstory about Harry Potter's parents and their era at Hogwarts. You could make origin films for characters like Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. But they'll wait until time has passed and have the right creative talent to do any of the things above. Because unlike Dinsey/Lucasfilm, Warner Bros./J.K. Rowling care about other things besides making money and selling action figures.

Of course you'll never catch anything Harry Potter with the $isney logo on it because $isney do not own it! When J.K. Rowling says that a story is done, she really means that it is done, but then there's the prequel "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". And J.K. Rowling isn't interested in making money, maybe that's why she is one of the richest women in the world, because she is NOT interested in making money. And of course there are no Harry potter toys or action figures or LEGO sets, right?

I'd rank Episode IV and V over all the HP films, but as a whole, the HP franchise tells a more complete and compelling story with deeper characterizations..

This is 100% false in every way. You talk about world building, but Star Wars maybe does this better than any other franchise. It really could go on forever because it is so expansive. You also state that when she said the series is done, it's done, except it's not. She started doing a prequel series immediately after she said that and there are talks about doing more after the original books.

It requires a third option: cannot be determined.
The two worlds are just impossible to compare, different genre, different audience, different style, just about everything is different.
I enjoy Harry Potter as a whole more than Star Wars. Most likely because there haven't been hundreds of books about HP to ruin it all. Yet, I grew up with Star Wars, not HP, so those first SW movies are and always will be better than the HP movies.
I forgot, there's need for a fourth option too: who cares?

I disagree on the whole world building. Star Trek does the exact same thing. There's no difference between the two in that regard.

I guarantee most of the people who said false here haven't read the books. since we are on a film discussion board that's a pretty silly distinction to make.
