Come off it. How hard is it to not promote religious sectarianism on a sports board? Some posters (I wasn't one of them btw) made some pretty reasonable points and asked him to please steer clear of certain topics in his posts on this particular board. He threw his toys out of the cot, claimed a witch hunt and then self deleted. Whole thing is self inflicted. He's not a victim, he's an agitator.

He's gone - from this board at least for now. Hoping he has a change of heart and will come back and we can ask the Admin to lift the ban FJ asked to impose on him. FJ's emotional - I think we've all seen that over the years - holidays wouldn't be the same here without him. He said you were the only one who backed him up. Take a bow, son. Some of the posters went over the top when they referred rather cruelly, in a few instances, to his depression issues. I maybe should have criticised them for that at the time.

He's done the same for me when I've gone off the rails at times. I don't think he truly means to offend anybody - he's emotional - kind of wears his heart on his sleeve. Enjoyed reading his posts and interacting with him here and on the horror board even if you didn't agree with each other and got in the occasional spat/flame war. How much fun would life be if you agreed with everything everybody said - kind of dull. But always respected he had his own opinion/view. I think he'll be back - maybe just needs to step away for a bit - hoping to see him around here on the holidays. Always gave me some good recs for some Irish Literature/Ghost Stories around Christmas.

Incidentally, a while ago, after reading a particularly egregious pile of shite from Jack, replete with musical accompaniment, I briefly contemplated starting a "Post your favourite pro-Al Qaeda songs" thread on this board, just to see what level of outrage it would provoke, and to compare that with the reaction to Jack's weekly, if not daily, posts celebrating IRA terrorism. That might have been interesting, instructive even, but I'm just not that obnoxious.

I care only about sport on a sports board, I don't agree with the IRA stuff, but as a grown up, I am capable of just ignoring it to converse on footie with someone who knew what he was talking about. I shall greatly miss his contributions.

Perhaps because I grew up surrounded by people incapable of discussing Scottish football without reference to Irish history, I am less tolerant of it than you are. My preference was that he would stop posting in this fashion, but as he seems unable to do that, his absence is an acceptable alternative to me, and we all know it won't last long.

Jack has strong beliefs, that's his entitlement, however distasteful they be to anyone other than those who share those same beliefs. But ultimately a sports board is not the forum for politico posturing and hate mongering. The board administrators provide other boards for more "hot" topics, but Jack continued to use the sports board for his aggressive agitation. If a thread saw any sort of England team losing or in a poor position he would jump in to poke fun, which is fine, he hates the English we get it, but the minute England picked up in the same thread he would resort to pro terrorism tacticts - the advocation of killing innocent people. No genuine sports fan wants to see that during a sports discussion on a board provided for such.
There has been no witch hunt, and it certainly wasn't just "3" people, 6 people openly pulled him up about it on the "sports" board - and these from different races and creeds across the world, add the ones who voice concern via personal messages but don't want to be involved in open war on the forum, well you get the point. The Admin looked at his history and saw fit to lock him out of the sports board, it really was that simple, and they had on occasions had to move some of his posts to other boards previously - under various accounts I might add. Some of his postings on "Poppy Day" were atrocious, again that's his right, but if he had posted them on a more "livewire" and "challenging" board then nobody here chatting about sport would have had to even know about them! Simples really.
Most of you know him better than I do, and clearly away from his incessant need to ram his strong beliefs down our throats on the wrong forum, he loves sport and can be fun. That's where someone like Carl (who I like a lot) should be stepping in, telling him to take the inappropriate stuff elsewhere. If his depression is genuine then he needs to taper off the booze and get himself on Sertraline, get help, it's a common problem and help is there - trust me I know. Then he should come back and use the various boards for the relevant topics he wants to post about.
Like A J this is my last discourse on the matter. I got a serious Test Match and Tennis to watch this week.

Ironically, he had very strong anti-racist and anti-hate beliefs when it came to every ethnicity and nationality BUT the English. He ventured into the Politics board some time ago and it didn't take him very long to start accusing pretty much everybody of being "fascist", "racist" and "islamophobic". That's what triggered his previous self-deletion. When he came back he (wisely) avoided the Politics board, but I guess he just couldn't help himself with his Irish nationalist crap.

Well, I'm English and we got on fine. As I say, I hope he comes back. Has far more knowledge on football than most and not obsessed with the EPL as so many are.
