Barcelona 8/11 They sit 11th with one win (a 5-2 thumping of Real Betis) a loss to Atletico Bilbao and most recently a draw with Osasuna. In the absence of Messi no fewer than six different players have got on the score sheet with Griezmann getting two of Barca's 7 goal tally. Next up for them is the team directly above them, Valencia, on the 14th - three days later it's an away trip to Dortmund in the Champions League.
Real Madrid 7/4 They sit 5th after scraping a late draw at Villerreal on Sunday, thanks to a brace by Gareth Bale - he potted his second moments before being dismissed for two rapid yellows. He's the second Real player to be sent off in the three games played (Modric) With five points from nine it's hardly the blistering start many expected from Zidane. "It's this 4-4-2" "They miss Ronaldo" It's this, it's that. They too play the team directly above them next : Levante - followed days later by a trip to PSG for the Champions League group opener.
Atletico Madrid 7/1 Current table-toppers with maximum points, having overcome Eibar with a 90th minute pot on Sunday (3-2) and defeating Leganés and Getafe also - an easier opening ride perhaps but they've already established a 4 and 5 point lead over Real and Barca respectively. They face Real Sociadad next, followed by the Champions League visit of Juventus.
80/1 BAR
Early days but it's already shaping up nicely for an intriguing couple of months ahead.

Well, two games on and the BAR about the Big Three is in from 80/1 to 20/1.
Barcelona 5/6 (out from 8/11) Despite the introduction of Messi for the 2nd half, Barca could not rescue the game at Granada Groove Armada on Saturday and went down 2-0. A 5-2 win over Valencia has kept their heads above water and they sit 8th in the table. They're back in action on Tuesday with the visit of Villarreal who sit one place and one point above their hosts. The last time Villarreal got anything at the Nou Camp was ten visits ago when they scraped a 1-1 draw with Fuster potting the leveller just after half time. It's encouraging for Villarreal that they have found the net in all of their league games so far and indeed are joint top potters in La Liga along with Barca, although, almost unthinkably, Barca have failed to score in two of their outings. But goals could be on the menu here, for both sides. Could be quite a game. It's probable that Messi, fresh from his Fifa Player of the Year award, will make a start although Jordi Alba at left-back will be out with his hamstring. This is in fact Barcelona's worst La Liga start in 25 years.
Real Madrid 13/8 (in from 7/4) Real have won their last two league games and have moved nicely up to 2nd spot. They're in action on Wednesday with the visit of 9th placed Osasuna who have drawn 4 of their 5 games so far, winning the other. Osasuna never get anything at the Bernabau - they managed a point back in 2005 and their most severe lashing of recent years was a 7-1 drubbing in 2010 with Ronaldo completing a 35 minute hat-trick. Osasuna may have only scored four goals in 5 games but they've also kept 3 clean sheets and may come with a plan to frustrate Real's potting ambitions.
Atletico Madrid 9/1 (out from 7/1) From table-toppers two games ago to 6th position after picking up just one point from 6. They're away on Wednesday to Real Mallorca (17th) whose last home game was a well-earned goalless draw with current leaders Athletic Bilbao. The last two visits of Atletico has seen Mallorca take a win and a draw. In fact in the last two campaigns Mallorca can boast two wins and two draws against Atletico, so recent head-to-head form is not exactly against the home side.
So Athletic Bilbao are top by a point with Sociedad, Sevilla and Granada occupying 3rd, 4th and 5th in that order.
Seville 20/1 Athletic Bilbao 66/1 Valencia 150/1 Real Sociedad 150/1 300/1 BAR

Barcelona 4/9 Currently 2nd (19 pts) following four straight LL wins, most recently three- and four-nil beatings of Eiber and Sevilla. They're a point behind leaders Granada with a game in hand (played tonight, Tuesday, versus Valladolid)
Real Madrid 9/4 They may be 6th but there's just 3 points separating the top 7 teams, and a win on Wednesday against bottom feeders Leganes will put them on 21 points and they'll move into first or second depending on the Barca result.
Atletico Madrid 20/1 They're 5th behind Sociedad and Sevilla and have drawn 3 of their last 4 LL outings and it's not an easy next two games with away trips to Deportivo and Sevilla.
40/1 BAR

Barcelona 2/5 They are one of two sides with a game in hand advantage over the others and they still sit first on 31 pts. Currently enjoying a winning streak of 5 in all comps. Next up for them a home tie with lowly Real Mallorca before the away trip to Inter.
Real Madrid 2/1 The other team with a one game advantage over the others. They're 2nd on GD to Barcelona (20 plays 19) Next up is the home tie with second-bottom RCD Espanyol before a trip to Brugge.
Atletico Madrid 33/1 Atletico's position of 6th (26 pts) is in part due to quite a few draws - 7 out of 15 league games in fact, more than any other side bar Osasuna also on 7. They're awat to middling Villarrael on Friday before Wednesday's crucial game with Lokomotiv Moscow where a win would see them through and anything less might see Leverkusen leapfrog them were they to overcome already-qualified Juventus in Germany.
Seville, 3rd, 30 pts, 50/1 Bilbao, 4th, 26 pts, 250/1 Sociedad, 5th, 26 pts, 250/1
The odds between the top two and the chasing pack are huge, given the tightness of the top six, but then again that game in hand for Barca and Real is almost certainly worth three points to them (you would think)

There are new favourites for the title for the first time this season. Real Madrid, three points to the good at the top, are in at 8/11 with Farcelona just about odds against at 11/10. All sides have now played 21 games so it's even stevens with no games in hand anywhere.
Real Madrid 8/11 Since that well-earned 0-0 at Nou Camp a week before Xmas, Real have played as many cup games as they have league games, including the Middle East circus that was the Spain Super Cup. They've taken 10 points from their last 12 with that unexpected home draw with Bilbao last month the only points-dropper. They may not have scored as many goals as Farca (39 plays 50) but they have conceded far fewer (13 plays 25) Next up for them is Saturday's lip-smacking home set-to with Atletico Madrid which was goalless in September when Atletico played host.
Barcelona 11/10 With Luis Suarez out for probably the rest of the season it's no wonder the gossip columns are awash with rumours of potential stand-ins. Only yesterday morning Everton were said to have turned down a €100m bid for Richarlison de Andrade. When you have more money than you really know what to do with, you can fuel the gossips all year round. Anyway, a 95th minute pot from Greizmann clinched a 1-2 victory over Segunda B outfit UD Ibiza last week in the Copa del Rey 3rd round and they're at it again today, Thursday, with the 4th round tie versus Leganes at Nou Camp, followed three days later by the visit of mid-table Levantes where anything less than a home win is surely set to cause the concerned-ometer to go up a notch or three.
Sevilla 150/1 Sevilla have a nice little run-up on the horizon with their next three league outings against 14th placed Deportivo, 18th placed Celta de Vigo and bottom-placed Espanyol. They are five points behind Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid 50/1 Knocked out of the Copa del Rey last week by another Segunda B outfit, Cultural Leonese, Atletico have failed to pot in their last two league games, drawing with 19th placed Leganes and going down 0-2 against lowly Eibar. I've noticed their ineptitude in scoring more than two goals in any one league game (only twice, compared to Barcelona and Real's seven times each) And despite being of top four status, 11 teams in La Liga have netted more than Atletico, and 3 more have scored the same amount (22) - but by the same token, only one team has conceded fewer league goals than them, and that's Real Madrid. You'll do well to see two goals in a game with these fellows, but you have to say the combo of Correa and Morata is producing some decent play up front. As stated, it's the Madrid derby on Saturday. It should be the setting for some fine game play - just don't expect a glut of goals.

He seriously injured his right knee in the Super Cup in Jeddah. Monaco's Ben Yedder and Valencia's Rodrigo have also been approached. But with Greizmann and Messi both fit, and reserve options already available, how many strikers do they think they need?

One month on and what a difference 4 games make with the betting odds back in Barcelona's favour following four straight league wins, most recently the 5-0 slaying of SD Eibar with Messi potting a first half hat-trick and a late 4th for good measure. Real Madrid have taken 7 points from 4 games and sit two points behind the leaders.
Barcelona 4/6 Coach Quique Seteiri has found a kind of groove over the last month which is despite the unrest off the field. Domestically, El Classico is next up, on Sunday 1st March (it's a leap year) and his side is almost 2/1 to take the three points. It was goalless at Barca in December and there's only been the one (Barca) goal in the last two ECs. But before that it's a trip to Napoli in the CL on Tuesday. In fact the two teams played each other in two pre-season friendlies at the beginning of August in Michigan where Barca won both games, routing Napoli with an aggregate score of 6-1. After the Real encounter it's a home tie with 6th placed Real Sociedad.
Real Madrid 6/5 Real have turned a three point lead at the top a month ago to a two point deficit with one point from their last two outings. They host Manchester City on Wednesday and some good news for them is that coach Zidane has won 3 CL trophies as manager, equalled only by Ancelotti and Paisley, I believe. For the El Classico on Sunday Real are 6/5 favourites and they go into it knowing of course that victory would place them back at the top of Primera Division.
Atletico Madrid 150/1 Down in 3rd place, ten points off Real, Atletico pulled off a good CL victory over Liverpool last week but must realize that any title aspirations went long ago. They're still among the lower scorers in the league (28 - versus Real's 46, Barca's 62 and bottom club Espanoyol's 22, who they play next on Sunday) In the run-in for a CL spot they sit one goal to the good above 4th placed Seville with Getafe, Sociedad and at least three others still in the hunt.
Real Sociedad 200/1 Getafe, Sevilla 250/1 Valencia 1000/1 2000/1 BAR

Two months on, or two games on, Barca still holds a two point lead over RM, despite RM winning the above mentioned El Clasico by two-nothing. Atletico could only draw at Espanyol after levelling a 0-1 deficit, and surely ending any hope of assaulting the top two. Next up, with Real now boasting a one point lead, they faltered at mid-table Real Betis, going down 2-1 with a late Tello pot blagging the home points. Meanwhile, Messi's late penalty strike earned Barca the three points over Sociedad and they now once again lead Madrid by two points. The last game anywhere was played on Tuesday March 10th (Eiber v Sociedad) and fittingly that game rounded up all the team's games at a nice level 27 played. France Ligues 1/2 2019-20 has just been cancelled, Bundesliga is supposed to be returning within a fortnight, subject to Merkel's say-so, but these days the only thing I believe on the internet is the date, so think what you want.

Real Madrid 1/7 Barcelona 4/1
The odds may seem brutal with Real just one point and one game in hand ahead of Barcelona but with run-ins of fairly equal challenge, the odds must lie in Madrid's favour. After keeping 4 clean sheets upon resumption (10 points from 12) , Barcelona have succumbed to two 2-2 draws while Madrid have won all 5 of their post-lockdown encounters with top scorers Ramos and Benzema each potting three. Next up for them is their game in hand over Barcelona, a home tie with 5th placed Getafe on Thursday. Both sides play on Sunday, Madrid away to 9th spot Athletico Bilboa and Barca away at 5th placed Villarreal.

Sergio Ramos potted his 4th goal of the resumption in the one-nothing win over Getafe on Thursday. Both sides might have found the net before Ramos converted the 80th minute penalty after Carvajal was assaulted by Olivera n the box. Real hung on despite continued pressure from the visitors and the three points gained are now reflected in their landslide title odds Real Madrid 1/7 > 1/12 Bacelona 4/1 > 7/1
