Espanyol are 20 or so minutes away from being relegated at Camp Nou. Suarez' goalmouth pot on '56 came after an explosive start to the second half seeing two players sent off. Ansu Fati, subbed on at half time for Barca, lasted all of five minutes after going in with studs on Espanyol's Callero on '50. Two minutes later Lozano went tearing in on Pique and was dismissed. Both decisions started with a ref's yellow and finished with a VAR overruling of reds. Barca hanging on to a one-nothing lead which would put them one point behind Madrid who would have a game in hand. The stadium is a a-jumpin' and a-humpin' with invisible fans.

It's over. It's over. Espanyol down, Barca to within a point of Madrid. But by the looks on their faces as they trudge off you get the feeling they know the game is pretty much up.

A Benzema brace secures the title for the Madrilenians. That's number 34 for them. Barcelona lose 1-2 at home to mid-table Osasuna.

There was at least one red card in seven of tonight's ten La Liga matches. Nine reds in total.

ZZ and Real Madrid owe this to the amazing goalscoring form of Benzema who has seen off, among others, CR7 and Bale, and flourished with a little help from Ramos' penalties.
