There have been so many produced since the beginning of the sound era. These are just a few of my favorites. I've always loved the best of the Busby Berkeley choreographed musicals, which for me literally helped shape the landscape of film with shots/sequences designed like these in The Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933) and 42nd Street (1933):

I also love the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers films that added a more balletic approach to the medium, as in Swing Time (1936):
Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth together in You Were Never Lovelier (1942): Rita by herself as Gilda (1946) ("Put the Blame on Mame") and the Sharks, Jets, and Rita Moreno in West Side Story (1961): Your thoughts, favorites, etc. There are so many to choose from.

And did you watch PICNIC yesterday, Spider?
Madge and Hal dancing to 'Moonglow'
(non-dancer Holden had to get a load on before filming the scene -- which would become one of the memorable dance sequences in movie history)

Yes, I did indeed, and loved it as much as ever. That, of course, is one of my all-time favorite dance sequences, but I'd feel like a broken record posting it again. But, hmm, what the heck. . .(and, yes, Holden looks like he's in agony). God, I love the way George Duning married the score to "Moonglow"!

Broken records are perfectly acceptable, Spider -- particularly in this case!

Any film with Eleanor Powell performing her magic and of course "the Nicolas Brothers"
My all time favorite dance sequence is "Lullaby of Broadway" in the Busby Berkeley film.

American dancer and actress Joyzelle Joyner (1905 – 1980) appeared in around thirty films some uncredited between 1925 and 1935. Joyner garnered much notoriety and will always be remembered for her seductive role & appearance as Ancaria in the Sign of the Cross (1932) performing... " The Dance Of the Naked Moon" .jpg)
