There were also serious news stories (war in China and elsewhere, for example), but I think the above stories are more fun. Here's a rather more serious news story: "Revolution in Lithuania" (1927) But let's contrast that with a very silly one: "Parking Problem Solved" (1927) I read in a 1950s/1960s newspaper that the American newsreel makers had already junked most silent era newsreels by then, so the maker of a history documentary for TV had to use footage from European newsreel makers.
