Has the X-Files aged well? Did the revival leave you wanting more or did it disappoint? What do you rate it? The original version was very-good, but unfortunately the revival left a lot to be desired.I gave it a 10. My original rating was 8, but after rewatching, I thought seasons 8, 9 and 10 were actually pretty good. CSM surviving a missile is stretching it, but I'm just happy to see them again.

Loved it until they relocated to Los Angeles from Vancouver. The show ran out of steam.
8/10

The great shows still hold up and likely always will. Too many episodes that I didn't really care for all that much, particularly in the latter seasons, brings it down a point. I don't know why but going back to revisit the first season made me realize how many quality episodes there were. I had thought that was a weak beginning. I was wrong. Beyond the Sea in particular stands out. 9/10

I felt the show went on longer than necessary and I didn't care for the first half of the revival (though the Weremonster episode was quite good!), but when the show was good, it was brilliant. Seasons 1-6 were the show at its peak, in my opinion and there were even some good episodes during the Doggett years.
Overall, I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

Amazing series! One of my all time favorites. It doesn't feel dated at all because of the high production values.
I rarely rewatch the mythos episodes because they lead absolutely nowhere, but the stand alone/Monster of the Week episodes are classics that I rewatch constantly.
The revival seasons had excellent stand alones but horrendous mythos episodes.
I'm hoping for one more season!

8/10 for idea, casting, etc. First movie-ok. Second, a little less ok.
Would have been better if they knew where they were going with the alien stuff from the beginning--but it all got ridiculously complicated and in the end, meh. I didnt bother with the revival.

10.
At the time there was nothing even remotely in the same league as X-files. Carter sure did a good job putting together some very imaginative writers.
Although television is mostly junk, we do on occasion get truly great shows that far surpass anything else in the genre.

Stupidly amazing in its glory days, above average in its twilight Years. The good is so good, though, that I can't go any lower than a solid 9/10

Loved it until they relocated to Los Angeles from Vancouver. The show ran out of steam. 8/10 I've been re-watching the Mythology DVD set. While still one of my favs of all-time, the show has finally aged out for me. I must say, the show feels smaller now than it did in the day. Back then, for lack of a better phrase, The X-Files felt like quality dramatic enactments &/or re-enactments. It all felt dramatic & tense, & yet it was written & produced in a way for its content to actually feel plausible. Nowadays, every room is clearly darkened for budgeted effect, the set pieces are pretty low tech, etc. Even an episode like Little Green Men, the absurd logistical convenience that aliens would show up at the very place & time that Mulder breaks into the SETI telescope in Puerto Rico seems too ideal. As a believer that E.T.s exist, I've swung hard to the idea that we've never been visited - it's not that they don't exist, but when. That probability with the timeline of modern human civilization makes The X-Files pretty out of reach. Unless it was like 2001 ASO where 'we're finally ready', which the show doesn't paint. Mulder walking into crazy rooms full of evidence, only to have no tech to record, ages it out. The show becomes an infinite carrot & stick from Chris Carter.
