I thought the first movie wasn't very good, but Vikander had potential of given a good script. Let's just hope she gets a better script this time.

Good news indeed. Ben Wheatley'd be great.

I largely liked the first one, so I'm glad it got a sequel. Looking forward to it.

Banking on a hard R rating now that Wheatley is involved.

Banking on a hard R rating now that Wheatley is involved. If that happened, I'd tip my hat. But they're probably thinking "Egh we made almost $300M on a PG13 movie so why rock the boat?".

The studios should collaborate and do a crossover between Tom Holland's Nathan Drake and Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft

I enjoyed the first one but remember very little about it.
I don't really like the changes to Lara Croft recently - the character grew out of the 90s Grrrl Power and Cool Britannia phases with all the kind of cocky in-your-face attitude that came with it. It's unlikely she would have made any impact on the scene if she hadn't been so much "of her time". Sure Tomb Raider and its sequels were great games but the character was a pop culture icon who was recognised by people with zero knowledge or interest in video games.
Now though she's kinda fallen into being a fairly forgettable addition to the Katniss Everdeen, Tris Prior mold. She feels like a pale imitation of better characters when in the 90s she was the trend setter. I understand why it happened - the 90s Lara Croft is about as culturally relevant now as the Spice Girls. And it wasn't helped by the lack-lustre Angelina Jolie films (lame cash-ins with cheap writers, editors and directors - a pity because Jolie was perfect) and the nose dive that the original game series took in the early 2000s. Still, I think it's a shame. Perhaps the character should have been retired rather rebooted into a shadow of her former self.
It can be seen in the games too - the 2013 game copied other games that were popular at the time (Far Cry for instance). The 1996 original on the other hand basically created a whole new genre.

If Vikander is still playing Lara then I'm skipping this. I like Vikander as an actress but she did not fit as Lara Croft at all.

Vikander shared that she's had several Zoom calls with Green to collaborate on the upcoming sequel's action scenes and stunts. Read her statement below: "It’s so much fun on the Zooms I’ve had with Misha to finally sit with another woman my own age. I get to talk about big action set pieces and stunts that we want to make. I’m hoping that we get on track and get to do something together." screenrant.com/tomb-raider-2-movie-alicia-vikander-production-updates/

I thought the first one was "meh" so I'm not so hot on news of a sequel. I kind of don't see the point.

I kind of don't see the point. The first one made money, that’s about it.
