The landlord from "The Big Lebowski." Loved how he was both extremely uncomfortable, but confident enough to do a solo dance number. Definitely Bob the Goon from "Batman" (this image has no political implication, I just thought it was funny) Also, Charlie from "Critters." This guy was great, but definitely a few crayons short of a six-pack. Despite that, he became a pretty endearing character after four movies.

I would have loved to see more of Jean Hill's "sister of the church" from "Polyester", where Jean has just had enough with these "crazy crackers!"

Yes! Good choice! Love June Fairchild! I don't know what it is, but I just love that movie. As a stupid and perhaps even irresponsible film about louts\losers, it just appears to do everything right and is so perfectly steeped in that warm and radiant glow the late 70's tended to have on offer.

As a stupid and perhaps even irresponsible film about louts\losers, it just appears to do everything right and is so perfectly steeped in that warm and radiant glow the late 70's tended to have on offer. The basic appeal of course is in the two main characters, especially (for me) Cheech, who is just so darn cute and lovable. I don't know but there is something human about the urge/need (?) to be irresponsible from time to time. And these two guys are all of that, yet they are devoid of malice. They're even kind of innocent in a way. So refreshing. Plus, the fact they are totally devoted to each other and who can resist a good buddy movie. The scene near the beginning when Cheech first sees Chong, who is pretending to be a girl hitcher, only to have the two of them bond almost immediately over Cheech's tacky, colorful car decor is great. That's when you knew exactly where this movie was going! Ha! I liked the decor, too! So cozy! They were so much on each other's same wavelength! They understood each other intuitively, and nobody else did. And that's priceless.

Jesus Quintana (John Turturro) from The Big Lebowski, but I hear a spinoff sequel is coming soon.

They understood each other intuitively, and nobody else did. And that's priceless. Yes, eloquently put Mr. Dirty and what these 2 guys had in a sense was a love story in its purest form. The film was also consistently funny and it in a way a precursor to The Blues Brothers who were on a mission from God and nothing got in their way until they completed their mission, here, they were just on a mission for themselves, but due to their likeability, naivety and lack of hostility between them, nothing got in their way and the law enforcement were just bumbling idiots and got thwarted at all costs.
Their other stoner comedies just didn't match up to this one and Next Movie and Nice Dreams, while amusing in parts, were just plain weird and even off the rails outlandish. They didn't have the same easy going flow. I think they got a bit of that original spark back with Things Are Tough All Over, but that one really toned down the druggy aspect to being virtually non-existent, but was more consistent as a comedy movie. I also really like The Corsican Brothers, which while smutty, was more of a silly\stupid pg film and very much non-pc which wouldn't be made today.
