Snodgrass knocks it into the area where it is headed clear to Mertens who sees that De Bruyne is all alone on the halfway line. A quick pass sets him off. Robertson has to dash across to tackle him. leaving Lukaku unmarked, De Bruyne slips the ball into that space and Lukaku taps it home.
So feckin' easy

...and now it's 2-0. Scrappy stuff out right ends when the ball is knocked into the Scot's penalty area, where any one of 3 yellow jerseys could have scored. Vermaelen got the touch.
I'll settle for 5-0...plz?

That man De Bruyne makes it 4 after some good work by Lukaku. De Bruyne has been the man, finding space easily and playing as a very attacking No.8. A bit harsh on the Scots who've improved out of all recognition in the second half. But they badly need a striker to finish off some of their good work. I don't agree with Clarke's preference for Snodgrass ahead of Fraser. He flatters to deceive.

(and don't say 0-8) Unfortunately you sit 5th of 6, have beaten only Cyprus 2-1 and San Marino 2-0, have a -8 GD, have scored 0.83 goals per match, and look thoroughly down and out. At least you've got the play-offs. And I mean that, I want to see Scotland in the finals. But there's some serious work to be done, not least of all from a morale-building point of view.

Clarke's team got a hammering from the meeja and rightly so after that embarrassing first-half but second half, they were a match for the yellow bellies with the exception of De Bruyne. The big difference for me (apart from KDB) was the quick, first-time passing of Les Belges which comes from continuity of team selection and when executed properly, can leave defenders flat-footed. But that doesn't excuse the appalling defending in the first half. Mulgrew is well past his sell-by date. His team, Blackburn have recently loaned him out to Wigan which tells its own story. Robertson without Virgil looks like a left-winger playing full back. Get fit Tierney. But McTominay and McLean were excellent second half. Clarke has more tinkering to do with the guys uo front.

Some ex Scotch player, think it might be Kenny Dalgleish, can't remember, was mentioned on wireless earlier, said that Scotland are rubbish because only middle class kids play football in Scotland now.
Not sure where he gets that idea, but there you go 🤷♀️

Way, way back in my day, the public parks were full of football pitches. Alexandra Park, Glasgow Green, Bellahouston Park. In fact, the last-named was also known as "50 pitches". They've all gone!
The kids are all into video games now. Street football is a distant memory. That disappeared with the old tenements and the fact that every Tom, Dick and 'Arry Jimmy, Dougie and Wullie all have cars parked in the street
