Yes. One time by multiple people. I had popped out during lunch to run to Burlington for a winter coat and I left my coat at work... Beats peeling off a coat and flinging it somewhere while you try on another coat. I figured it would just get in the way.

Yeah but in their defense I've run plenty of errands to grocery stores in my chef clothes so they can be forgiven for thinking I just wandered out from the back.
It's happened a few other times though that I didn't like. Even a few weeks ago, I was in a grocery store in my regular clothes and some guy just calls out to me "hey buddy, where's the corn?". It wasn't mean or anything but here I am thinking I dunno, try the fucking farm.
At a birthday party last year in a sort of food court type place, I was carrying a glass of beer in each hand and someone flagged me down and asked if I could take their order. That annoyed me. I just calmly said I didn't work there, but what I was thinking was are you disabled? Do you see anything that resembles a uniform?
I was also annoyed once in a bike store when someone caught up to me from behind and asked where something was. I said I didn't know, cause it's not unheard of for customers to ask other customers just in case. But he said oh, I thought you worked here. Here am I again thinking why? I'm walking around wearing short and a t-shirt. All the employees are wearing slacks and golf shits. The same slacks and golf shirts. What is this?

Yep I wore a red shirt in a store where the employees wear red shirts I had three different people come up to me.
I also was in a clothing store and I had a lanyard on with my student ID and I guess it made me look like an employee.

I have and when I go back to the store where I used to work I'll help people because I still know where to find things because the layout is still the same

When I couldn't give it to them one person acted like "I" was the idiot Giving directions wasn't part of my job description

I look like a floorwalker, so no. And if you know what a floorwalker is I’ll give a surprise.

A few times in my life I'd say, oddly the occurrences were grouped together... must've been what I was wearing/how I appeared.

Far too often. I also get asked for directions a lot. why do you think that is, do tou think you come off as easily approachable? Probably. I'm not in a big city so I usually establish eye contact with people I pass by and give a nod if it's returned. I'm not all that extroverted but I am cordial.

No but I've had a few customers walk up to me and ask for my number, because I'm really good looking.
I went to Olive Garden with my family once, and my mom was dressed up wearing black pants and a white button-up blouse, similar to their uniform. She was asked my a couple customers when they can get a table.
