David Suchet was perfect as Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie's Poirot
Vivien Leigh was perfect as Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind
William Powell and Myrna Loy where perfect as Nick and Nora in the Thin Man movie series in the 30s and 40s.
There are others too but these are the once i will mention.

Totally agree with you about Vivien Leigh. I love her spirit. She is the best part about the movie, imo, which I am not all that fond of. It's kind of a chore to sit through. It's not an awful movie, but it's just not my cup of tea. And Clark Gable looked so much more handsome without the moustache. For Poirot, I always liked Peter Ustinov. Albert Finney was totally overbearing. I am not familiar with David Suchet. William and Myrna were cute together.

Sissy Spacek was born to play Loretta Lynn. As she was Carrie and Pinky. Lynn though, being a real life human being, was very fortunate that Spacek did her life justice.
Could you imagine anyone other than Faye Dunaway as the one and only Mommie Dearest?
Yes, good call, Toasted Cheese! There is something very, very deep going on with Faye's interpretation of Joan Crawford. Dunaway touched on nerves and really delivered an extremely brave performance... She is absolutely fearless here and there is also something going on about how Dunaway does NOT like to talk about that movie. She knows she bared all and she's embarassed by how she exposed herself in the movie. It was almost like she was undergoing some kind of catharsis by playing - what Pauline Kael called - "the Gorgon Joan". I am not all that big a fan of Dunaway, but it is impossible to not acknowledge that this was a very special performance, indeed. She is soooo intense. kind of terrifying even. And totally addictive. Also, I think it is FASCINATING how Faye got lots of pans and slams from the critics, and yet at the same time she came in SECOND PLACE from the New York Film Critics Award and The National Society of Film Critics, so that just has to mean that Faye's performance caused a lot of CONFUSION regarding what is a great performance and what is an awful performance. I mean, second place from the two most esteemed critics' groups is, I think, pretty significant.

Just to list some (in no order)...
-Anna Kendrick - Up in the Air (2009) (her general presence suits this role very well) -Paul Newman - The Hustler (1961)/The Color of Money (1986) (he was born for this role! ; definitely one of my top choices on my list!) -Cuba Gooding Jr/Renee Wellweger - Jerry Maguire (1996) (the role and movie ill remember those two for) -Pierce Brosnan/Greg Kinnear - The Matador (2005) (they work well together and help sell the movie) -Russell Crowe - Gladiator (2000) (pretty much THE movie I think most people will remember him for) -Johnny Depp/Frank Langella - The Ninth Gate (1999) -Al Pacino - Scarface (1983) -Nicolas Cage - Lord of War (2005) -Adam Sandler - Happy Gilmore (1996) -Amber Heard - Drive Angry (2011) -Anthony Hopkins - The Worlds Fastest Indian (2005) -Jim Caviezel - The Passion of the Christ (2004) -Helen Hunt/Bill Paxton - Twister (1996) -Sam Jackson - Pulp Fiction (1994) -Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump (1994) -Michael J Fox/Christopher Lloyd - Back to the Future (1985) -Steve Martin/John Candy - Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) -Tim Robins - The Shawshank Redemption (1994) -Rie Rasmussen/Jamel Debbouze - Angel-A (2005) (by looking at them you would have never guessed they would work well on screen together but they do) -Kevin Costner - Mr Brooks (2007) -Jude Law - Road to Perdition (2002) -Charlize Theron - Young Adult (2011) -Mel Gibson - Braveheart (1995)
etc. I am sure I could probably find some more or possibly remove some of those but that's what I went with for now looking through my general favorite movies list. but I will say some of those stand out more than others to though.
