Saw a Guardian article today listing their top 100 movies of the 21st Century and their list is frankly laughably bad and out of touch.
Their top 5 movies of the 21st century are:
5. In the Mood for Love (2000)
4. Under the Skin (2013)
3. Boyhood (2014)
2. 12 Years a Slave (2013)
1. There Will Be Blood (2007)
They also have Team America World Police in the top 10 and Get Out at #25
So what say you, what are your top 5 movies of the 21st Century (2000-2019)?

I think usually when it's from an article like that, it's just one person creating the list with their own personal admissions.

I think usually when it's from an article like that, it's just one person creating the list with their own personal admissions. I think 3 of The Guardian's film critics came up with that list but I see your point, its still a very narrow lens. Half those movies Ive mever even heard of in their top 100.

It might be far from a list of the generally most acclaimed movies of the century, but as a list by 1 or a few people of their favorites of the century I think it's actually pretty good. Tbh I don't need another edition of the generally acclaimed movies, we've seen so many already (also sites IMDb, MT & RT kinda already have that function). So it's nice to see a list which includes actual favorites by a select few, it looks way more like someone's personal list than all those generally acclaimed movies lists. And it allows me to add new movies to my watchlist. That being said, my top 5 would be very different: Children of Men Blade Runner 2049 The Lord of the Rings Mad Max: Fury Road Spirited Away HM: Pan's Labyrinth, Hereditary, Under the Skin, Inception, Boyhood, Inside Llewyn Davis, Whiplash, Inglourious Basterds Edit: I now went through the entire top 100 and there are indeed some very odd choices in there (like ??Ted at #60??). I guess it's at least different than most other lists .

"In the Mood for Love" should be much higher than 5th.
I haven't seen "Under the Skin". I don't think any of the other three would be near my top 10.
I am not sure what other films would be on my top 5 list for this century. Last year's "Cold War" for sure, and "Amelie". Probably "Blade Runner 2049" as well.
There are two films that I hated on the list: "Toni Erdmann" at #45 and "Son of Saul" at #15.

The Guardian's music lists are just as laughably bad and out of touch. I remember over on the "Music General" board of that other site that: - Someone posted that The Guardian's best album of 2016 was "Lemonade" by Beyonce.
- In a thread started by DrKrippen (and archived here: filmboards.com/board/p/19036/) "Your favorite albums released in 2016?", not one MG user mentioned Beyonce's album.
