Agree 100%, I can't walk into a film conversation without someone bringing up Paddington 2. We're always talking about it here on the sports board as well.

Well... this list did the job, I guess. It got me mildly annoyed by some of what was included and the order of certain things. But whatever, it's not all so bad.
But Ted? Gimme a fucking break. Ted is better than No Country for Old Men apparently. There are plenty of gripes to be had, but that's the worst one.

Obviously, we can all pick these lists apart based on our own preferences, but glad to see some gems in here that are worthy of attention, in addition to the usual suspect Hollywood releases.
Stories We Tell is outstanding. One of the better documentaries I've seen in recent years.
I love Requiem for a Dream. I'll never watch it again.
Dogtooth is great, although I am partial to that guy's other films.
Amores Perros, fantastic.
Glad to see A Serious Man ranked that high. A Coen Brothers movie that rarely gets the attention of some of their more popular works, but this one is among my favorites of theirs. Terrific in every way.
Synecdoche, New York. A typically great Charlie Kaufman story.
Under the Skin is another favorite. Challenging, visceral visual storytelling done right.
Very pleased to see There Will be Blood at #1. Yeah, we can all name other films that could be in this spot but this one, to me, is perfect. Brilliantly acted, filmed as gorgeously as anything I've ever seen, scored perfectly, it's just everything you can want in a film.

I have never seen "Ted" and it would take a lot of money or the promise of sexual favours from a very attractive woman for me to watch it. I positively hated "Toni Erdman" (44) and "Son of Saul" (12).
Without thinking too much about it, these movies would certainly be in my list as well:
Amores Perros The Handmaiden Gravity The White Ribbon The Great Beauty Volver In the Mood for Love (which in my list would get an even higher spot than The Guardian's #5)
I didn't like "Ida" all that much but the director's "Cold War" would definitely get a top 10 place on my list.
Good to see a Hirokazu Kore-eda movie on the list ("Shoplifters" at 15), as he is one of my favourite active directors, but I would probably pick a different one - "Still Walking" maybe, or "Like Father, like Son" (or possibly both).
Finally, I am very glad to see that The Guardian had the common sense of considering that the century started in 2000 and not in 2001.

Winter Light is awful. Most boring movie I've ever seen. I couldn't find a Winter Light on the list. "Moonlight" perhaps? Or "Winter Sleep", which is not on the list either, but "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" by the same director is - and it IS boring!

Has anyone seen Almodovar's The Skin I Live In? One of the most unsettlingly brilliant films I've seen. I don't know that I would want to watch it again to decide if it's a true masterwork, but I suspect that it is.

Trust me, I am no Christopher Nolan fanboy, and personally I can't stand 90% of action-hero movies, but I soon as I realized that they think there were 97 better movies than The Dark Knight in the last 20 years, I stopped paying attention.
