Only if I’m onto v2? It’s admittedly been a few months since the last time it happened.

Only if I’m onto v2? It’s admittedly been a few months since the last time it happened. I got one the other day complete with a screaming siren sound … scared the …. heck outta me …. I logged off immediately. Re-booted … Did a virus scan and nada ! Weird.

Pretty much everyone reading this should be using a decent browser (i.e. Firefox or Chrome) and have uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill) installed (uBlock Origin is a extension for your browser) as that makes the internet a much better place since it removes a lot of the junk no one wants to see
how anyone browses the internet without that installed is beyond me as the internet would be cluttered with too much junk without that installed.
EDIT: For those who want this site to function without any of the ads/junk, add the following lines to uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill) under the 'My filters' section...
imdb2.freeforums.net##.c-pb-plus__container imdb2.freeforums.net##div[id*="-banner"] imdb2.freeforums.net##div[id*="overlay"] imdb2.freeforums.net###remove_ads_link imdb2.freeforums.net###ad1 imdb2.freeforums.net###wrapper > div:nth-of-type(5)

For me, it isn't a pop-up, it's a redirect. I'm taken to a page warning about viruses. I cannot get back to IMDb2 unless I close the window and reopen a new one.
It's happening more frequently now.

bravomailer my guess is uBlock Origin will block that type of redirect stuff to as I tend not to have any bad experiences around these forums with Firefox with the uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill) extension installed.

Pop-ups and redirects are automatically reported to ProBoards. For all other ad violations, use the Report Ad link on the bottom of every page on this forum.

Yeah, but make sure your using the real one by Raymond Hill as there was some shady stuff going on recently in regards to a couple of Chrome extensions(I don't really use Chrome much though)... thehackernews.com/2019/09/browser-chrome-extension-adblock.html (NOTE: this does not effect you if your using the real uBlock Origin extension by Raymond Hill. it only effected the two mentioned in the article posing as uBlock etc)
and like that article says... the less extensions you use generally the better, not only for browser performance, but less chance of a person installing a shady extension which could compromise their system security. a quote from the article...
that's good advice simply because the less extensions you use, the less attack surface there is to compromise your system security. but as a default install I would install the uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill) since your internet experience will be better with it and chances are that won't get compromised and your overall safer online with it than without it. I only use three extensions in total myself with uBlock Origin being one of them and have been using it for years now.
p.s. on a side note... that's another little reason I tend to like Firefox over Chrome is it's no where near as popular (Chrome has about 67% of the desktop/laptop browser market share where as Firefox has only about 9%) so it's less likely to be attacked in general. NOTE: I am not saying using Chrome is bad or anything though as it's still easily the most popular web browser and is secure enough etc.

Yeah, and one can even specifically remove certain things they don't want to see with uBlock Origin by clicking the uBlock Origin icon, selecting the 'element picker mode' (the one to the right of the lightning bolt looking icon) and then simply move your mouse over stuff til the thing you want to remove is highlighted and left click it. NOTE: if you make a mistake and want to remove it, just go to uBlock Origin icon and click on the icon that says 'open the dashboard' (hover mouse over it to see (it's the one opposite of the lightning bolt looking icon)), then click 'My filters' and then you can find the entry below and simply delete the proper text accordingly and click 'apply changes'.
I personally used that to clean up some of the bulkiness (like some excess open space which I think is normally where ads are displayed like at the bottom area of a page etc) on these IMDb2 forums.
