Zion reminds too much of Bo Jackson - way too powerful & agile for his own body, exploding into injury. Bo ran out of his hip on his play, his hip could not handle Bo's explosiveness. I remember Okafor went through a torn Meniscus. We kept hearing he was going to be back relatively quickly which didn't happen. Hope this doesn't happen to Zion. Part of me thinks it was part of the craftiness/dirtiness/tankiness of 'The Process' - shutting him down - but he never was the same player (not that he was All-Star material when he went down) when he eventually came back. Okafor got ripped on here for being out of shape too - came back a couple of years back with his body completely transformed after changing his diet to Vegan.

Pistons waive Joe Johnson.
Well that didn't take long.
I'd give him a look.
Rumor has it Bolden and Zhaire will be 'DNPs' in Game #1. Kind of surprises me - thought it would be Shake and maybe Bolden.
I'm over Bolden. Give JJ a look.

Jordan says Curry is "not a Hall of Famer yet. He's not." And he wouldn't select him for a pickup game.
Basketball Reference has his chances at 99.87%. So there's a chance.

We can see by him running the Hornets/Bobcats - he's not the greatest evaluator of talent. I love 90s basketball but he comes across a little delusional here.

Well - that was quite fun - AD and Lebron 1-6 in the 4th. And the Lakers go down

Spicy P with an average looking game - still nets 34pts, 18 boards. I think the team will be fine with him as centerpiece. Right now I'd say he's at the top of the league's second tier of stars. Freddie career high 34.
These Raptors will need, & want, some form of underdog mentality to rev it all back up. That's what helped before Kawhi, & should again now.

A good sign they kept fighting back and then eventually ran away with it in OT. Team could have had the attitude going into this season, 'Eh, Kawhi is gone - let's just enjoy our title'. Wonder with Zion's presence though - if the outcome may have been different.

I think the Pels might've tried too hard to get Zion going with set plays, which might've actually hurt them tonight. As it was, they were facing the champs with absolutely nothing to lose.

I see LeBron is taking advantage of a common storytelling trope... you can do stuff like this early in the earliest acts, but if you do it in June, you'll carry it forever.

7:30pm on ESPN: NBA Domination Begins! Let's Roll Baby! Celts/Sixers hasn't been a rivalry for over 30 years. They have footage of players shoving each other, I could find footage of both teams mixing it up with other teams from the last few seasons. Odd that while the Sixers are a title contender (and the C's aren't), they still feel they need to manufacture storylines to motivate fans to watch.

Not really sure what to expect from this Celtics squad. I liked what I saw out of the young guys in the pre-season. We still don't have a leader, though. Kemba is a solid player, but I've never seen him as a true superstar-- one of the two best players on a championship roster. The Celtics almost feel like a rebuilding team, until you consider Kemba and Hayward. To be honest I wouldn't have given that extension to Brown until he proves he can be consistent. Curious to see if he and Tatum can have bounce back years. No matter what the team will be more fun to watch without that douchebag Irving.

Curious to see if he and Tatum can have bounce back years. No matter what the team will be more fun to watch without that douchebag Irving. As you said - you guys have owned us over the years. Even Embiid came out last year and stated - 'There is no rivalry' - because you've owned us. We've always had a problem with your guards / wings - and your wings were always too quick on the perimeter guarding us and could shut us down- especially that year we had Beli and Ily popping trays. Celtics would always sag off Simmons and dare him too shoot - hence clogging the lane and doubling Embiid - when they already had Horford - Embiid's Kryptonite. Can't wait to see if Simmons takes some jumpers - and now that Embiid's Kryptonite is on our squad - I'm curious to see if Joel goes off tonight. I'm just hoping our fans don't jump off a cliff if we lose tonight. It's Game #1 - just relax and have fun - going to be a long fun season

Poor kid looked the same for the Magic in the preseason. Shot like 31% from the field and averaged 6.7 ppg. You read some blogs/articles about him and for some reason fans down there (that probably haven't seen him over the last couple of years) are getting excited about him. It's exactly what we saw. He can get to the hoop, break down a defender and penetrate whenever he wants to - but there's '0' outside shot. I think the kid can become a backup PG in the league if he keeps his head on straight - but that's pretty much it - a journeyman we see along the lines of an Ish Smith and Isaiah Canaan who's eventually going to be signing 1 year deals with teams year after year. Magic picked up his option and have him signed for 2020-21 too - hopefully he pans out and gets another contract.
