I’m not trying to debunk Christianity per se...I find a lot of it quite beautiful...but it would not hurt anyone to think in other terms once and awhile. But when it comes to forcing religion on me, forcing me to live a certain way (and a way that’s more about politics than faith) that has zero credibility of being true, yeah, I’m going to fight it. Why shouldn’t I? Christianity is going to be wiped off the face of the earth in a few more years and replaced with a globalist religion. It will happen. Guaranteed. Try to be patient. I can’t wait. Always wanted to be a Jedi.

Where is my 'free will' going to go, Erjenious? Down the drain, Your Gozness. Why? I already have free will and I am an agnostic atheist. Wen religion goes nothing will change. In fact without the ridiculous prohibitions of religious nonsense, everyone will have MORE free will.

Y'know, I thought I explained that to you on another thread not long ago, but you didn't believe it (or pretended like you didn't believe it). Third strand DNA will allow an interface between human intelligence and artificial intelligence, and the artificial intelligence will override the human intelligence every time. With that goes your free will. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Nah. Having sex with an AI hooker is a little too "Westworld" for me.

Thou shalt not kill vs Thou shalt not murder is a huge difference (when it comes to which word should be used).

Still... Mary was actually called a young woman, not a virgin 🤷♀️ Even if the word virgin isn't used I think the Gospel makes it clear she was one when she questioned the pregnancy wondering how it could be since she never 'knew' a man.

That's got dozens of other translations as well? Plus the gospels are self contradictory on Mary and Joseph's marital status 🤷♀️ Jewish custom at the time was to sell your daughter off to someone to marry at about age 12... a disturbing notion itself.

I thought it was pretty clear they were contracted to be married, but it wasn't official yet in terms of living together as husband and wife. Mary was still living in her parent's household. What was said that was contradictory?

Do you ever go around trying to debunk Hinduism or Buddhism? You clowns seem to want Christianity gone, but you leave the others alone. The "Boardies", do not know a thing about Hinduism and Buddhism to mock it. You are giving them too much credit! Not precisely true. I lived at a Krishna communal farm for a year back in the Eighties. So I'm one of the boardies who does know a bit about Hinduism. I also studied Zen Buddhism for a time...Eastern religions fascinate me. I'm not totally on board with all their doctrines, but I think their overall approach to the spiritual life is much saner and healthier than the mass of Western religions tend to be. (BTW, before anyone goes off the charts about the Hare Krishnas, read this article: www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90643796And no, I never did public chanting or mendicant work, nor was I asked to sign over my worldly goods to the commune. I left of my own free will when I'd learned what I wanted to; and it remains one of the most interesting and worthwhile experiences of my life up til now.)

I don't believe "mistranslation" is fair. Few translations are perfect, even contemporaneous ones across countries.
In a pre-industrial world "slavery" was an entirely different thing.
Of course we all know exactly what "virgin" means anywhere or anytime, but there was likely some confusion about the story. It did appear to some people that the birth of Jesus was somehow miraculous or there would be no story.

Do you know of any translation where what Mary asked the angel regarding the how can this be where she was questioning for any other reason that she was never with a man?
