While 666 is called the "number of the beast" in most manuscripts of Revelation 13:18 a fragment of the earliest papyrus 115 gives the number as 616. But then a lot of the devoutly-challenged have never let the fruits of biblical scholarship get in the way of a good story. I have 616 tattooed on my forehead. The confusion between 616 and 666 has never bothered me. Why? and why?

Mary wasn't a virgin... The Hebrew term for 'young woman', was mistranslated in Matthew to 'virgin'. Jesus' 'slaves' (doulos), was mistranslated as followers. Do you ever go around trying to debunk Hinduism or Buddhism? You clowns seem to want Christianity gone, but you leave the others alone. Does Hinduism or Buddhism try to subvert civil rights?

Jesus' 'slaves' (doulos), was mistranslated as followers. even if that were true regarding the word it still would not mean she wasn’t a virgin. How many virgin births have you witnessed? On the the other hand, virgin births are a common motif in the mythology of the day. And as pointed out that the Hebrew “alma” does not necessarily mean virgin, indicates the Gospel writers redacted this translation later as a means to fit with some of the more popular Greek and Roman cults at the time.* This also elevated the BVM to near goddess status or possibly as Holy Wisdom or the Mother of God. *The virgin Isis gives birth to Horous. The virgin Persephone gives birth to Dionysus and Jason. The ancient Hebrews held that all men and women should procreate. This diminishes the notion they expected the messiah to not be human in every way including two human parents.

This diminishes the notion they expected the messiah to not be human in every way including two human parents. Flawed reasoning. The reason there may be more the one virgin birth is because it is indeed an unusual occurrence humans never experience. Context, there's that word again, would be the thing that reveals what the similarities between the stories are. Without that, it's silly to pretend the stores were copied from each other on the most basic of premises. I would bet anything, based on my limited familiarity with Isis, that the statement you made is the only comparison to be had. What next? Zeus used lightening bolts and thus God is Zeus?

Does Hinduism or Buddhism try to subvert civil rights? Do you have some kind of point you're trying to make? Yes. As with Buddhism and Hinduism, if you Christians would quit trying to shove your religion down our throats by demanding its tenets be inserted into secular law AND proclaim America as some later day Israel under God’s trust AND think Donald Trump is on loan from God, you can jump pews and speak in tongues all you like. Same goes for your Muslim cousins. Stay the fuck out of my life, because you guys have a historical problem of making life utterly miserable for everyone rather than elevating Jesus’ message of love and compassion.

For the record, I am not sure I believed you anyway. Had you said it was tattooed on your penis, I would def have believed you!

Not you personally, but you are an advocate for conservatism and Christianity. I’m not sure where you stand in regards to your faith and rejection of scientific theory and don’t care. However, do you think gay rights should be outlawed as many of the Right Wing here do? Do you support Creationism or Intelligent Design taught in public schools? Should Christian prayers be said in school or before public school sporting events? How about government sponsored religious iconography? Should “In God We Trust” be on our money and why do I have to profess my nation is under God when I say the pledge? These are public issues that affect me and per the Christian Right folks, these are forced on atheists and non-Christians and we don’t deserve a say about it.

At the risk of self-congratulation, I think I'm pretty good at keeping my politics and my religion separated, and it isn't easy when the person I'm talking to is constantly mashing them together. I never thought Trump was on loan from God, and I feel sorry for the people who do think that. Sorry about the money and the pledge. Lot of things I don't like but they're going to stay the way they are because too many people are content with them the way they are, so I try to concentrate on matters on which I just might have some influence.

I’m not trying to debunk Christianity per se...I find a lot of it quite beautiful...but it would not hurt anyone to think in other terms once and awhile. But when it comes to forcing religion on me, forcing me to live a certain way (and a way that’s more about politics than faith) that has zero credibility of being true, yeah, I’m going to fight it. Why shouldn’t I?

Yes. One based on capitalism. It’s already happening I doubt it will be based on capitalism, but we'll see. What’s it going to be based on? And when has making a healthy profit from Conquering for Christ not been a thing?

Interesting observation. It just might be that the Anti-Christ will use Marvel Comics in his devilish plot. The world has started worshiping the Marvel superheroes lately.

I think it's going to be based on global harmony and having the so-called "good life," but it won't affect me because I'll be dead and out of it. I also that Babylon might be the name used to identify Capitalism, and Babylon is going to take a fall.
