I thought it was really cool. Less a horror film and more action oriented but it became my favorite in the series.

First saw it on VHS. Thought it was pretty good. Didn't revisit until a few years later with a DVD copy. Numerous repeated viewings have since reinforced my opinion the movie is fucking great.

Saw part of it on AMC one time and it was good. Watched it all on VHS and really enjoyed it.

I really liked how it was constructed. I thought it was clever how the audience pieces together the fate of the colony at the same time as the marines do.

Jones should have had a bigger role.
The highlight was when Carter J. Burke got killed.

I thought it was weird and gross, especially the milk blood. I actually didn't like it as much until after I saw Alien, which gave it a little more context.

My adrenaline was running through my body to the point I thought I might need medical help. I'm not joking.
It took me a good half hour to calm down.
I hadn't seen Alien so I really didn't appreciate the whole backstory of Ripley but it didn't matter because Aliens was such a brilliant action film.

Great film, though I like "Alien" more. I also liked Alien 3. Hell even Ressurection was ok.

Have you seen the Extended Director's Cut of it where they show both the Colony (before it was taken over by the Aliens) and when Newt's Family discovers the Derelict Ship and her father is facehugged ?

At the cinema, not a huge impression. Action stuff. My alien fixation came a few years later - it was like being reborn.

I thought it was a great science fiction horror film with an excellent performance from Sigourney Weaver. The action sequences felt very intense. However, I didn't think it was better than the first film.

A good science fiction movie, never saw it as a horror movie, but that could be because i was 35 when i watched it for the first time.

I liked it but not as much as ALIEN. I was disappointed how feeble the regular aliens were--they seemed too easily killed, and found some of the marines annoying. I think I saw it twice. The alien queen was pretty cool especially for the first time when it emerges. I can't remember it being shown in advance in the advertising. I still have the Making Of magazine.

I prefer the horror angle (parts 1 and 3) to the action angle, but "Aliens" is a damned-near perfect movie in many respects. I saw it not too long after it came out and remember being wowed by not just the usual stuff (great cast, visuals, creature effects), but it was the first movie I remember ever noticing such solid sound design. The sound of the pulse rifles, for example, stuck with me for a long time. One of the first internet searches I did was looking for that sound effects database.
I'll also remember getting sick a few years later and getting laid up. My old-school, no escapist bone in his body, father watched it with me (his first viewing) and I remember vividly him getting absorbed in the story. When Burke gets his, my dad yells "that's what you get you sonofabitch, you get the gooey one!" referencing that particular xeno's foamy mouth.
I love the man and that is the only time I can ever remember a film eliciting any kind of reaction from him.

I viewed "ALIEN" (1979) in a large theater with one other stranger. So essentially I had the theatre to myself. It gave me a very bad headache, due in part to the flashing lights. The film moved and it was a typical government black ops screwup. Interesting.

I was blown away. Cinematic perfection. I saw it in the theater when it first came out and to this day it is the only movie I have gone to see twice in the theater.
