I've only so far watched the first episode, Reptilicus, which was wonderfully terrible, and I must say, while I did like it, the major con I have is the voice changes of Tom, Crow, and Gypsy. They just didn't have the spark of the older voice actors. It was only the first episode though, so I'm sure they will find their footing once I watch more episodes, but overall, it was pretty good!!

I'm watching them out of order. So far I hated Reptilicus, loved At the Earth's Core and liked Starcrash.

Servo is really the only change in voice that bothers me. I can deal with Gypsy's new voice since she only makes short appearances. My real problem with Servo is that his voice isn't distinct enough. Actually, I don't think any of the main actors' voices are distinct enough. I usually don't know who is making what joke. Their voices are too similar.
But I've been enjoying it for the most part. I actually can't wait to get to the Land That Time Forgot. I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid.

I've only seen the first episode so far but it was excellent and I'm so glad Netflix is doing this.

I used to love the older MST3K with Joel Hodgson( one of the shows creators). I hated his replacement(Michael J. Nelson).Creative differences or so I heard. It was just never the same after that.I remember watching all those Gamera commentaries. It was just totally hilarious in the golden days of the 90s show.

I'm a bigger Mike fan. I give respect to Joel for creating it, but I always enjoyed Mike's personality far more.

I actually can't wait to get to the Land That Time Forgot. I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid. I'm sure it never occurred to you to skip straight to the episodes you want to see most. MST3K isn't linear like "Lost" or something.

Never watched seasons 7-10, I see. Too bad, they were some of the funniest, and (shock) most linear seasons of the entire show.
Not to mention, even without a tight storyline, they still have call backs and repeat jokes. Heck, by episode 3, they're already doing call backs to episode 1.
So while, yes, I could skip to whatever episodes I want, I don't need to. It's not urgent. After all, it's just a show, you should really just relax.

As the other poster pointed out, Mike was the head writer even while Joel was still around. Sure we lost the inventions when Joel left, but I don't see it as a major loss. The biggest humor came from the interaction between the host and his robot pals. The dynamic with Mike was more a bunch of guys goofing around with each other and ragging on bad movies. I found that a better fit for the show.

He also appears in every new episode as the henchman in the hazmat suit that pulls the lever to start the movie.

I'm as big a fan of Joel as anybody. I didn't think anyone could fill his shoes and be as funny. I was wrong. Mike was just as funny as Joel. It was like Steve Young taking over for Joe Montana.

As a dedicated MSTie since, oh, about 1990 or so, I recommend anyone watching the new Netflix revival should skip the first episode ("Reptilicus"). It's rather terrible for the most part.
Start with Episode 2, "Cry Wilderness"... The new crew start getting their sea legs.

Have never watched this serie or even heard of it. Maybe it wasn't a big deal in my country but you've all made me interested in watching at least a couple of eps to see what it's all about. I have to start with the first ep but I'll keep an open mind if it's not good and give i a couple of eps before judging.

"Reptilicus" took a while to start getting funny, but after about 20 minutes I thought they found their groove.

Episode 4 - 'Avalanche' has been my favourite so far. The riffing gets merciless early on and just keeps building. They seem to have a large writers staff for this new season I would be curious to see who the core writers are for each episode.
I did hear something about Dan Harmon taking a pass at a few of the new episodes, but I haven't noticed his name in the credits yet. MST3K seems like a natural fit for him

I liked Joel Mchale's cameo in episode 14, he could have been the perfect MST3K host. Jonah is doing alright, though.
