For All of the People Here that like the 1980 Slasher Movie "FRIDAY THE 13th", What was your Reaction to that Movie the very first time that you saw it ?

I thought it was tame and boring compared to the sequels I'd already seen. Kevin Bacon had a mouth dropping death, though.

I actually did not see it until the mid 2000s. Maybe even 2008 or 09. Whenever it was WGN aired the first three on a Friday the 13th in October. It was a cooler than usual October and I snacked on tostitos and spicy hot homemade salsa while I watched.
I had already read about the killer on the internet.
I liked it but I liked Part 3 more. Nowadays I like Part 2 better as well.
But I thought it was great. I was surprised at how beautifully it was shot for a slasher. And though I knew who the killer was I had not read about the canoe scene at the very end and it made me jump like hell!
Mainly all three made me wish I had been born sooner so I would have been a teenager in the the early 80's and been able to watch them back then when they were new in the theater, before Jason became the pop culture icon he is today.
Not that he doesn't deserve it, hell I have a Jason Voorhees Potato Head.
Just to be a teenager and experience the Golden Age of slashers and reading the latest in Fangoria..

I had already knew what the twist was, but watching the movie was a great time. Very suspenseful and dark.

That was definitely quite a way to go.

Hard to remember since I probably saw bits and pieces over the years before finally seeing it in whole.
I’ll say when I rewatched most of the series for the first time in a while a few years back I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and red herrings that are thrown about throughout the film as to who the killer is. It’s kind of cheap that it’s someone we never knew about until the end but still well done overall. It’s not my favorite Friday film but it’s up there...and has one of the more likeable casts of the series.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out. I was just a kid but I remember pulling my baseball cap over my eyes a few times.

Watched it on TV during Easter 2001 while recovering from a minor operation. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort, but the movie distracted me somewhat and I'll always appreciate it for that. Thought it was a fine movie at the time. Nowadays, I'd rank it as my third favourite entry in the franchise.

Count me as someone who only saw it after a sequel or 2. I bet there were trillions of kids in that same boat pun intended.

The Movie definitely has those moments when you want to do that.

Kind of weird, but it made me miss the mountains, state parks, and camping. I didn't see it until high school (early 1990s) but it brought back a lot of nostalgia for the early 1980's (outside of psycho killers stalking people).
