The card has a robot with a scythe? Gotta be some cold war sci-fi. You're way off the mark. Look at the card again 🤔 And who's the guy in the hat? Dr Terror’s House of Horrors

The monster designs and how they were presented copped a lot slack.

Ah, I quite like this film, it has the lovely Juliette Delpy and is just a lot of fun, or so I believe. Sure, never even close to the original, but for pure entertainment, I have always got a good time out of re-watching it during late summer nights.
An American Werewolf in Paris (1997), by the way.

Yep, that’s it. I don’t mind it either. It’s just too bad the cgi looked terrible.

I know people hated it, and I remember being a kid and seeing the ads on MTV constantly at the time, and thinking that it looked pretty terrible. Maybe it's worth a look just out of curiosity and on the interest of being a completist.

Yes, the CGI looked quite silly, even the first around when I saw it back in the late 90s, and which actually was before I got to see the original movie. So of course, with that in mind, I guess things might have changed a bit, at least on how I would react, if I had seen the first film, then followed later with the 97 movie. Still, I enjoyed the surprisingly fast paced and often fun and some even, ridiculous stuff and characters that comes and goes, and it sure does not hurt, having the lovely Juliette Delpy in there as well.
Shame about the special effects, but the story and characters is not all that bad, I feel the CGI and following up such a classic werewolf/horror film, and one that came with groundbreaking effects as well, might be one of the reasons to why so many hated on it.

Speaking on films, that had a very hard task of following an early classic 80s horror film, but one I always thought was way more fun and enjoyabe, than to what the critics did.

The kitchen sign leads me to believe it's a sequel to a cannibal themed movie or something, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a 70s movie and most of the 80s cannibal movies I'm thinking about don't have sequels that I'm aware of.... so I'll throw out Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, even while I know that's not it.

This film is actually considered to the real sequel (or so I remember it was labeled/promoted as) and the two former sequels made in the late 80s, seemed to be pretty much ignored. Also this one featured some familiar faces from the original first film, which was quite a nice surprise.

I believe the film was actually finished filming, around summer/fall 2003, but was not given a release until a few years later on. I remember suddenly getting a bit hyped up, as I had never seen the first film, until winter of 2007, and then not long after, this newly arriving sequel was ready, and so was I.

I believe that's a remake, and I don't recall it being delayed, but I feel like it fits the other criteria.

Nope, it is not Prom Night. What I kind of enjoyed with this very late sequel, is that if one ignores some of the clothes, fashion, trends and hairstyles of the many characters, the atmosphere felt very much like the one from the classic early 80s days of this type of films.
The killings were also very brutal at times, and I believe there has been talks about making another follow up, but not sure if that will happen anytime soon.
