Spurred? What are you, a horse? Well, you were the one braying first. Way to avoid the point. well that's the point. the "point" should have been avoided, by you, in the first place. but you couldn't resists, and now here you are entangled in a stupid argument with me. congrats!

As space movies are one of my favorite genres, this was more or less the most anticipated movie of the year for me.
In many ways it lived up to expectation. Deeply existential, brooding, vast, yet intimate. Beautiful when seen on the big screen. Stays with you when it's over. A reflection on some of the most important pursuits of our species, internal and external.
Where it stumbled a bit was the execution. Brad Pitt's voice over was kind of 50-50 for me. In some parts it was definitely necessary. In others, it felt too on-the-nose, almost like a director's commentary explaining to you the themes and what it's about - which just takes you out of the movie. And as a more minor thing, some of the action scenes felt very heavily forced by a studio head concerned there won't be enough bang bang for the average viewer.
So...maybe overall it doesn't quite reach it's very high potential. But it still reaches pretty high. 7.5, can round it to 8/10. Thematically and stylistically, it echoes in small parts a lot of the other space movies of the past two decades, but does also manage to have its own flavor.

It was kind of depressing tbh with a sprinkle of hope at the end. Pitt's character was kinda wooden which didnt really help things, I preferred Jones for that reason even though he wasnt in it much. Ruth Negga was fine but had a little role. Cameo was funny and so unexpected but at the same time, took you out of the movie due to the general tone of the film. Jaw-dropping shots, especially the beginning. It did resonate with me but that was the saving grace

We could have had a much darker and different movie if the story focused on him and his breakdown.

You’re welcome! Perhaps you need to think about what you are saying, before you make a stupid statement. I think plenty about what I say, but oddly it seems you think about it even more than me! Lol wow.

Well, in this instance, you didn't put much thought into it all and that is why I called you out. wow! No self-awareness. what exactly was thoughtless about it? It seemed pretty insightful to me. I encompassed fans of an crappy tv show in two succinct personality types and further deduced why a movie theatre might be showing it in so many rooms at a time. Was it hard to grasp or did i hurt your snowflake feelings?

Well sunshine, when you don't really know what you are talking about as to why Downtown Abbey has been popular, despite it being crappy , and still can't acknowledge why a movie theater exhibited it more rooms than you thought was necessary— I hope you don't get a job as a theater manager, you won't make any money for the business —you left your credibility behind the door you just slammed right into called your pride. well please educate me, why is it popular? Because you get to see stuffy old Brits trying to be hip with witty retorts? Sounds like potpourri trying to smell like axe deodorant.

Just watched it. How are people saying this is boring, do people really have such low attention spans now?
Its a slow burner for sure. There are a few questionable scenes that dont really lead anywhere and some contrivy plot stuff to make the story work but overall its "pretty decent"
7/10

I loved it. The cinematography, the score, the message. It really resonated with me. It's easily a 9/10 for me. The only thing I would have changed is everything after the ring jump. I'd have just had a voice over about his new found epiphany with a flash back to his wife.

Besides that I loved it as well, 9/10.
