Groovy version, not heard that before. I missed it by a couple of years, it seems. First I heard of her was on the 'Drunk On The Pope's Blood'/'The Agony Is The Ecstacy' 4AD 12" EP with The Birthday Party on one side and her on the other. The recordings were live cuts from the same show and Lunch's contribution was a single 16 minute 'song' with her howling and wailing her way through the number, which had Steve Severin on guitar. I really bought the disc for the Birthday Party's four cuts and when I flipped it to hear Lunch's contribution I felt claustrophobic, confused and out of my depth. On she went for more than a quarter of an hour while the band played distorted, disjointed and yet, as instrumentation alone, rather enjoyable. But nothing prepared me for her - not even the four tracks by the Birthday Party on the other side. I remember her being in The Immaculate Consumptive group with Marc Almond, 'Clint Ruin' and Nick Cave, but it ended after three days and three chaotic gigs in America.
