Hope you are feeling better. Yeah it’s no fun when you’re pushing yourself to watch something when not in the mood. I usually take a horror break for the first week or two of November and catch-up on stuff sitting on my shelf. Probably check out some straight-up comedies like House Party, My Cousin Vinny & The Swinging Cheerleaders. However I’m going to a Horror/cult film festival this coming weekend. So my break is getting pushed back. I've a hell of a lot of catching up on non-horror stuff to do as well. Bought a Blu ray player over the summer but still haven't watched any blu ray discs. Most of my collection is still on DVD. What titles are on offer in that cult film festival you're headed to? My bad. Indie was probably a better choice word instead of cult... although some of these might become cult films. Every film that is screening except for one, are releases from 2019. One cult film that had my interest was ‘Tammy and the T-Rex’ (1994) which is playing in the same festival at other cities, but disappointingly it didn’t make the play-list here. So it’s 25 films over four days starting tonight and finishing Sunday night. 3 From Hell The Furies Countdown Rabid Cut (2000) FVW Blood Machines Iron-Fists & Kung-Fu Kicks Porno Beast No More Bliss Riot Girls Vivarium Deerskin Outback Dogs Don’t Wear Pants After Midnight Daniel Is Real The Wretched Two Heads Creek Blood Vessel A Good Woman is Hard to Find Satanic Panic Dark Whispers Vol 1 Color Out of Space I already purchased five tickets.. and maybe I’ll see another one or two.

I'm out! I just watched my last movie, The Midnight Meat Train. I'd love to continue but reality is calling. I ended up with a total of 75, which is higher than last year's total of 71...which was higher than the year before. I guess I got into it a little, even though I said at the start I wasn't sure if I wanted to be bothered. Happy Halloween everybody, enjoy the movies!

I hit my goal of 31 after watching Satanic Panic and Knock Knock. SP was god awful. Knock Knock was just...I honestly dont know the words. It was fucked up yet really stupid at the same time. Made sense that it came from Eli Roth I suppose. I dont envision watching anymore the rest of the day so I'm finished. Happy Halloween everybody. May all your kids get full sized candy bars and not candy corn or pennies.

Starting the day off right with a double feature of Universal's Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. Planning on watching The Fog this evening, and perhaps a few others during the day. No first-time views today. Today is all about watching old favorites and trying to hang onto the Halloween "mood" for as long as possible.
As for the challenge, I will top out at around 55. I exceeded the numbers of every previous year I have participated (here and on the OG IMDB). I am blown away at some of the numbers you all have reached.
Cheers, and Happy Halloween everyone!

I'm at 33 movies, but I plan on watching more tonight, including the original Halloween and perhaps the 1981 sequel. And I picked up the new blu-ray release of The Blob (1988) so I'll be watching that one for sure.

Last year I made 19 FTV's and 37 total. This year I made 24 FTV's and 49 total, so I beat last year's score by a bit. It was a personal triumph!

Three movies to go for me for completion. Think I shall finish The Cell (started last night), and follow it up with Silence of the Lambs and my yearly helping of Scream. Make it a serial killer day.

As Rustin Parr said...
"I'M FINALLY FINISHED!"
70 is my total this year, including 48 first time views.

Knocked out 63 films... way more than I expected when compared to the last few years. Finished it off with a few Universal horror classics I hadn’t watched in awhile. Hope everybody is having/or had a happy Halloween and watched some horror delights to get into the spirit.
It was cool to see a healthy turnout for this year’s October challenge... from regular participants to newcomers. I’ll let it sit for about week for people to update their progress lists before posting on this thread some thoughts & the final challenge results.

moviemouth 50. The House by the Cemetery (1981) - 3/10 I see the charismatic Bob (or should I say dubbing) didn’t win you over. 😁 He certainly doesn't help, but while some of the stuff in it is creepy in concept the actual movie is just extremely dull and not scary at all. Same with Zombie and The Beyond.

Inspired by moviemouth top 10 FTV's Top 5 FTV (I didn't watch as many as they did) 1. Annabelle: Comes Home - I like most of the Conjuring Universe films. 2. Hellraiser - Honestly, I hated it at first. Watched it a second time a couple days later after doing a bit of reading on it and enjoyed it a lot more. 3. Captivity - Was a SAW like film which normally aren't my thing (gore porn basically) but this one was fine. 4. Victor Crowley - This wasn't a good movie but it was a decent B level horror film. Was fun seeing Q from Impractical Jokers in it. 5. The First Purge - Not a huge fan of the series but this one was fine. I'll never be upset seeing Marisa Tomei on my TV. Had no clue she was in it. None of these other than 1 and 2 would be that recommended. Tbh most of the FTV I watched weren't very good and it sucked a lot of excitement I had to complete this challenge. It wasn't until I re-watched some that I enjoyed that got me back into it. That said, here are the bad ones. Bottom 5 FTV1. Cooties - Had high hopes given the concept and cast. It just royally sucked. 2. Satanic Panic - Another comedy/horror mixture that just fell flat. Idk what here was meant to be funny. It was all just bad but didn't have the cast as Cooties did to get me as excited. 3. Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever - This movie was beyond stupid. Only watched it because it was on HBO and needed something. Literally has zero value but I had no expectations. 4. Don't Blink - Dumb movie that only redeeming quality that it had was it had some familiar faces in it. 5. Knock Knock - This film just annoys me. It was my final watch and while it was fucked up at parts the more you think about it the more you just get annoyed. Keanu Reeves is massively miscast in this (specially after seeing him in John Wick and LOOKING like John Wick) and you get no reason as to why these girls are doing this. I'm not sure what this movie was meant to be. Also, while hot Ana de Armas was awful in this film.

The point of the movie is about the moral situation Keanu Reeve's character is put in concerning his sexual desires vs. being faithful to his wife. It is still a terrible movie though. Curious as to why you bothered to do research about Hellraiser if you hated it so much and what possibly could have been revealed that made you like it a few days later?

Curious as to why you bothered to do research about Hellraiser if you hated it so much and what possibly could have been revealed that made you like it a few days later? For me when the Ana de Armas character was doing the whole daddy thing I was expecting there to be some sort of plot line where they were doing this as a way to get back at a rapist father or something. Instead, they're just doing it? Say they're going to kill Keanu, okay but they don't? Fine. Yet they killed the guy from Westworld (forget his name atm) so it's not like they have a problem with killing. They upload a video on faecbook to "shame him" yet it has Ana's character in it and the voice of the other. Wouldn't that get them caught? I just needed something to explain this crap. As I said, the more I think about it the more frustrated I get. The idea of 2 women seducing a random guy while being under age in far more fucked up than what we actually got imo. When I first watched Hellraiser I was a bit buzzed so most of it flew over my head. I personally didn't understand the purpose of the whatever they're called "demons" only to do a bit if google research to see why the character opened the box in the first place and so on. Just made me understand the film more as I didn't understand it the first time. It's still not great but I enjoyed it a lot more after having some of it explained to me after I was a bit too drunk to realize what I was watching at first. My own mistake is all.

One of the many problems with Knock Knock is that there is no reason the movie could give that would explain away most of those problems, so whether or not the movie gives them a reason doesn't make much difference. Hellraiser is an interesting movie, it just isn't my cup of tea.

Hellraiser isn't my cup of tea either as I don't feel the need to watch the sequels but after reading up I understood more of what I watched the first time. I was curious as to why that Pinhead character was seen as an icon like Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Michael etc. Still don't see why.
