Does 'What Lies Beneath' (2000) count as a horror film? It's been lying in my unwatched DVD pile for some time. I'd say yes considering it has a supernatural element, such as: is it a ghost or is she going mad? Definitely horror, it's a bit too Hollywood on conventional terms, but it has some serious creep out moments and the finale is shiverish.

I have recorded The Gauntlet, if it's cack then let me know! I thought it was cack myself. I thought the acting was b-grade and the kills mediocre. I was hoping for a good pay-off in the end (as in the reason why they were all there) but it was stupid. I personally found it a chore to watch but I did only because it was a first time view.

Delete that fecker than! Thanks Pal. Yeah good choice! There's two on the Horror channel, Thursday morning after midnight, that I think are good though, and if you haven't seen them: Outcast (trailer) This is slow and a bit trippy but great actors in it and not a bad story if you're into witchcraft in council estates. A Christmas Horror Story (trailer) This is an anthology movie with William Shatner as a DJ in the wraparound story.

Just watched Red Lights off the same channel, above average but what a waste of a cast - De Niro working for food again...

cybajediIf i can make a request...if you have the means, try The Devils Rejects. I saw that you disliked House of 1000 Corpses and i don't blame you...im not overly fond of it myself. But i felt like its sequel, Devils Rejects, fixed every single problem i had with House. If you hate Rejects then theres no point in watching any other Zombie film.

Anybody going to the cinema this month? For new horror releases, or old classics? I don’t know of any classic horror films thus far, but this month I know the cinemas nearby are showing Zombieland: Double Tap, Ready or Not, The Furies, Three from Hell and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Last October I had the chance to see ‘The Thing’, ‘The Blob’ 1988 and ‘Evil Dead 2’, but missed them. The previous year I saw ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’. So I hope something pops up nearby. I'm going to see Zombieland: Doubletap.

Two learned people of this board have declared 'What Lies Beneath' a horror. That'll do for me. I shall get it watched after evening mass today, and add it to my FTV tally 👍 It's horror.

Head Count was mostly passable imo. I think it got better reviews tho which surprise me. It doesn’t do anything particularly well.

So I watched the remake of Childs Play and my god, it was a weird and bad movie. It was odd seeing Aubrey Plaza and Jack Black in it. Plaza just seemed out of place imo and Jack Black was wasted for like 5 minutes of screen time. I think the concept of it was good with the AI doll and everything but it missed what made the original scary. There was no creepy personality to Chucky or anything, just a robotic tone obviously. I also had a hard time adjusting to this version of the doll. It looked far too weird compared to the original. Oddly enough the original doll from decades ago looked better than a modern day one. Mark Hamill did a good job as the voice actor of Chucky. I find him far better as a voice actor than I do a normal actor in any of his films.
Anyone else see this film? Thoughts on it?

Just finishe a Hindu film Rise of the Zombie...cool effects and an interesting premise. Just a tad too slow tho. I was checking how much time was left halfway thru. I don’t see many Hindu films tho so...it felt good to dip into that pot a little.

It was this guy www.imdb.com/name/nm5529424/?ref_=tt_cl_t6He looks A LOT like Jack Black and could of sworn it was him while watching the film.

There is a slight resemblance, but so slight that I didn't even notice it while watching the movie.

Though I agree that Aubrey Plaza is not good in it. Still, it's one of the more tolerable horror movie remakes. It isn't scary, but it isn't boring and it made enough changes that it felt like it's own movie while also being a remake. The Tupac joke is gold and Mark Hamill and the whole A.I. aspect really work for me.
