I could go for that fried version with a fried egg 'over easy' to dip it in. I would sub the salad for a nice dollop of Cholula (original) sauce.

Thanks, Nuts. Chef John's "Food Wishes," is my favorite of the foodie videos, and I don't recall having seen salami bread.
Chef John will experiment, as he did in this video. He will, also, air the "experimental" efforts, and fully explain if they fall short of his hopes.
By and large, his recipes are great successes. And, the production quality of his videos is the best that I've seen. You see his hands doing the work, and hear his narrative (which can be quite funny). Everything is clearly seen and heard.

Everything I've made by Chef John has been a success, although there was a Philadelphia cheese dip that I probably would do again.
