On September 20, 1918, Padre Pio was kneeling in front of a large crucifix when he received the visible marks of the crucifixion, making him the first stigmatized priest in the history of Church. The doctor who examined Padre Pio could not find any natural cause for the wounds. Upon his death in 1968, the wounds were no longer visible. In fact, there was no scaring and the skin was completely renewed. He had predicted 50 years prior that upon his death the wounds would heal. The wounds of the stigmata were not the only mystical phenomenon experienced by Padre Pio.
The blood from the stigmata had an odor described by many as similar to that of perfume or flowers, and the gift of bilocation was attributed to him. Padre Pio had the ability to read the hearts of the penitents who flocked to him for confession which he heard for ten or twelve hours per day. Padre Pio used the confessional to bring both sinners and devout souls closer to God; he would know just the right word of counsel or encouragement that was needed. Even before his death, people spoke to Padre Pio about his possible canonization. He died on September 23, 1968 at the age of eighty-one. His funeral was attended by about 100,000 people.

People like him should convince others God exists (if not that then stuff like Eucharistic Miracles/Our Lady of Guadalupe image from the year 1531 etc), but they continue to deny anyways. but like I always quote... "To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible." - St. Thomas Aquinas

Of course looking up Padre Pio page on Wikipedia I found this two alternative explanations for the so called wounds: So again, an explanation is possible. It's just not the one you want to hear.

Padre Pio was a fraud.
He has been declared so by two popes, and Vatican doctors.
He created his 'stigmata', and maintained them with carbolic acid.
He regularly flayed himself, and regularly enjoyed sexual intercourse.

Sean
If it is common knowledge; why is it that I do not know about it, as an interested Catholic? Also, I do not speak Ecclesiastical Latin nor am I planning a return trip to Rome. So, repeat, post a link or your statement is bull chips, honey.

Even if I don't have an explanation, that doesn't mean it was God. Saying "I don't have an explanation for what happened therefore God" is a classic argument from ignorance. It's about as likely that those miracles were caused by aliens from outer space. As for Padre Pio, even Pope John XXIII was skeptical of his claims. There are at least twenty claims doubting his authenticity.

You just continually post biased links, with no objective academic rigour. It's all just so much meaningless nothing. Don't you see that? It's a whole bunch of nothing. You and Cody have some serious issues. You can't distinguish what you want to be real from what is actually real. No matter how much you don't want them to be, Padre Pio was a fraud, and the Lady of Guadalupe is a fake, with a made up story. You can either accept that, or delude yourself. You want Roman Catholicism to be a far right anti-liberal religion, solely because that's your political belief. This just in... RC is a socialist, marxist philosophy based church... Hell, even the non-catholic, and atheist people can see and understand that fact... Why can't you? Because it's all about fitting things in to your pre-existing worldview... You can only see things as you want them to be, not how they are. It's not healthy. You need to take a look at yourself. And that is why the Holy Roman Catholic Church is turning it's back on US 'Catholics'... You aren't well.

He was an amazing individual. He was a fraud. He mugged gullible people off to try and create a personality cult centred on himself. Sorry.

Think for yourself... Your likes and dislikes are based on who says something, not what they say. Top tip bud, don't drink the Kool-Aid.
