Just returned from a holiday in Seville, Spain, where I watched quite a few games/bits of games. Quality was poor and pretty boring. La Liga's reputation for melodramatics is well earned with players doing their Oscar-winning turns at the slightest suggestion of any physical contact and the refs apparently condoning the practice. The very few goals that I saw came, mostly from penalties.
Some bright spark in the world of advertising has seen an opportunity here, and has persuaded some teams (Celta Vigo) to show a slogan on the arses of their shorts (Recaltivi). This might explain why some of the players lie down with their bums in the air screaming at the ref ("C'mon ref. He's only gone and broken my ankle...again"). They may earn for exposing "Ze bums" by the minute.
The top two, Barca and RMadrid are in some disarray. PSG gave ZZ's team an awful hammering in the CL and they are without Marcelo. Modric, Isco and Asensio for some reason . Kroos looks to be nearing his sell-by-date and Ramos is getting sneaky fouling down to a fine art. The front 3, Bale Benzema and Hazard are starving for good service and missing Modric. Barca have dumped Rakitic for the ex-Ajax star De Jong and Messi plays only in the later stages as he recovers from an injury. Without him they look pretty ordinary. Both teams are going through a period of transition...or decay. Both managers, Valverde and ZZ are facing "OUT" demands from unhappy fans, although unimpressive as the two teams are, they're still a match for the rest of La Liga.
