Like much of his post 1980s films, this one is largely mediocre. Before being a political liability, James Woods is pretty badass as the wonderfully named Jack Crow. I guess John Raven was already taken. Probably a 5/10

I have an issue with some of the misogynism, but other than that is an entertaining and cool vampire movie. John Carpenter's style is great here.
6.5/10

Not at the top of his game by this point, but still probably the best of his later career. Damn entertaining, and Woods was great as the hero. 7/10

Enjoyable flick, though I haven't seen it since it was in theaters. And yeah I still appreciate a vintage James Woods performance despite his politics. Doesn't he have a classic line towards the end of this one, "Yeah that's it padre, fuck with him!" or something like that.

I have seen bits and pieces of it but it didn't really seem that good to me.

I remember liking it enough initially...circa 98-99...but I was a teen back then so it probably didn’t have to be great for me to like it. Haven’t watched it in quite some time.

I thought it was great. A horror movie with a contemporary western feel to it, and plenty of edge. Fun, gory, witty, plus a top-notch performance by James Woods.

Not one of Carpenter's best but still a decent watch. The novel it was based on, Vampire$, is an ok read as well.

Didn’t care much for it. A great opening, and James Wood’s lead performance, but not much else.
