I was just there (Disneyworld) last week, and while I can say I enjoyed what I saw, there isn't a ton to it as of now. Smuggler's Run is disappointing because you get thrown in with whoever is around you in line, and unless you're one of the pilots there isn't much to do on your mission. They need to improve this attraction. There really isn't much else to Galaxy's Edge at the moment. Reenactors walking around are always fun, but it's essentially a bunch of shops right now. It needs more rides and interactive things to do. They should move Star Tours and the Jedi training stuff to Galaxy's Edge proper instead of keeping it elsewhere in Hollywood Studios.
It's just getting going, I'm sure it'll take off once they add more attractions to it.

They should make Star Wars condoms, it would be great, they could look like lightsabers and glow in the dark. That would help turn the company around.

The prices were ridiculous there. No wonder it's closing down. They should have made it the standard rate of any other hotel.

I reckon that it’s because it sucks that it failed. If it was more focused on the OT is would probably be a hit.

They got every aspect of their market analysis wrong. - It should've been a theme cruise rather than a hotel stay. - The LARP aspect is all encompassing and doesn't allow you to explore the other parks. You're not traveling all the way to Disney World to visit a single park for two days. - Younger audiences would be more interested in the LARP experience, and that crowd doesn't have the money to burn on something like this. - Hardcore Star Wars fans are older, and thus more interested in the OT time period rather than the sequel trilogy, where this is set. - The price point was outrageous. The value just wasn't there, from what I've read. It's incredible that they didn't take any of this into consideration. Of all the things Disney has done with Star Wars, this reeks the most of, "Hey it's Star Wars, we'll be printing money with this idea no matter what." Maybe in the future they'll refurbish the place a bit and just use it as a Star Wars themed resort as opposed to trying to turn the thing itself into an 'experience.' That's what the parks are for.

Yeah, the LARPing elements seem lame AF. But I guess I could dig a SW themed hotel (at a lower price).

But if it had good word-of-mouth and if Disney hadn’t killed Star Wars with their awful content, the market would be there. Fans who hadn’t had a holiday in a decade would have saved up for the experience and the super-wealthy would go there for a lark. But it’s just another Disney failure.
