So LOGAN reminded me of this statement from Days of Future Past. Which is likely to feature in future X-Men films.
"There’s a theory in quantum physics that time is immutable. It’s like a river – you can throw a pebble in and create a ripple, but the current always corrects itself. No matter what you do the river just keeps flowing in the same direction."
~Hank McCoy
So I did a little research and found that Singer and Kinberg having been saying since the release of DOFP that they are playing around with this theory. Saying that some people would be moved in their immutable place. Then I realized the parallels between the old timeline and the new one.
*Spoilers for Logan*
Original Timeline
FC:
*Magneto loses his family in the holocaust.
X1:
*An event at the Statue of Liberty involving the X-Men happens. Xavier and Magneto have a conservation about mutant relations.
X2:
*Magneto is broken out of prison and retaliates against human crimes against Mutants. His plan is stopped by Storm and the president doesn’t go through the mutant registration act.
X3:
*Mutant relations are established as better, until Magneto attacks Alcatraz Island. Along with Jean Grey causes a large amount of death in her wake. Storm becomes leader of the X-Men in the end.
The Wolverine:
*Wolverine goes into depression after the lost of a loved one and “dies” on his back covered in blood holding his heart. The Sentinel Progam goes into effect, which would bring mutantkind near to extinction.
New Timeline
XDOFP:
*Magneto is broken out of prison, retaliates against human crimes against Mutants. His plan is stopped by Mystique and the president doesn’t go through the Sentinel program.
XMA:
*Magneto retires from being a villian and starts a family. But he loses this second family in a very contrived way. Or perhaps it's intended to be contrived? Since in that scene he starts to wonder if that is just meant to be his fate.
*Mutant relations are established as better, until Magneto attacks cities across the world. Jean has visions about causing a large amount of death in her wake. Mystique becomes leader of the X-Men in the end.
*Xavier and Magneto have a conservation about mutant relations in the end.
LOGAN:
*An event at the Statue of Liberty involving the X-Men is mentioned to have happened in the past.
*Wolverine goes into depression after the lost of a loved ones and dies on his back covered in blood holding his “heart”(parallel confirmed by the director himself). The Transigen Project had gone into effect, which brought mutantkind to near extinction.
So Kinberg admits he wants to do a Dark Phoenix Saga movie. But I don't think it's going to feature Jean killing tons of people and trying to execute her for it. I think the plan is to have people want Jean dead because she can potentially do this. Because Xavier knows of the old timeline through reading Logan's mind in Days of Future Past, Hank's theory, and the dreams Jean is having are visions of the future. So someone(Shi'ar telepath?) can found out through him and try to take Jean out before she could cause havok. I think even Xavier realizes this and that's why he formed the X-Men.
What do you think?
