It’s not a remake.

Yeah but only because we haven’t seen another one in a while. I’m actually interested how they would do this movie in today’s generation.

Supposedly, it's being called a "spiritual sequel". I liked the first Candyman film and Jordan Peele hasn't disappointed me yet so it could be good.

Not particularly but it's Jordan Peele so it could be interesting.

I can’t picture anyone better than Tony todd in the role. I think Ving Rhames would have been good. Maybe a young James Earl Jones.

I might have seen a little bit of the 1992 movie back-in-the-day but I don't really remember much about it. so basically I voted for 'never saw the original'.

Nope.
It's fine. Let it be. The sequels went the way of the slasher while the first was a legit horror movie. Don't get me wrong, I love slashers, but the original "Candyman" was a very different animal. A few gory kills and jump scares, but it had a psychological edge to it. Plus, I can't imagine seeing it with any other music.
I agree that it would be interesting to see the story played out in this generation. If you don't know about the Cabrini Green housing project in Chicago and its history, I'd look it up. Its story has a lot to do with the racial/societal tension in "Candyman." I'd like to see a story like that told in modern times, but why does it have to be a reboot of an already good movie??? Make something new!
Admittedly, if Jordan Peele is onboard, it will probably be decent at least.
So tired of remakes/reboots...

I want an Asian forced diversity race swap as Candy Man. Anyone who disagrees is literally Hitler!

Hell no. And no doubt Peele will turn it into a “all white peoples are racist” type movie

I'm on the fence on this. On one hand, constant remakes without substance and adding something new are so annoying. Yet, on the other hand, since Jordan Peele is directing it, I hope that it'll turn out to be a good film.

Nia DaCosta, who directed Little Woods, is directing it.
