Sex Pistols are important to the history of music, but ultimately are only one album...PiL are far more artistically challenging, especially on the first three albums...

It's hard to compare when the bodies of work are so lopsided. I like them both.

Seen both live and Pil are surprisingly poor live, Pistols much better as a live act when Lydon uses his Pil voice though. On record as said above, you can't compare due to different stylings and dearth/ wealth of material. The Pistols were always a great glam rock sound with a unique vocalist whilst Pil where astonishingly creative and inventive on a much bigger scale. Would have liked to have seen Levine play live with Pil though.
