Anybody think it's a matter of time before we see a Great White sighting in McCovey Cove during a game?
Those kayakers have guts - I remember hearing via Shark Week - that GWs don't venture that far in (guess the food source is limited).
What about a rogue though?

Interesting thought, but I doubt you'll ever see it. I've never seen any seals out there, so you'll probably never see a shark there either. Like you said, not much of food options in that area for sharks. It would be pretty cool, though. You're watching a guy in a kayak holding up a ball he just got, and you see a dorsal fin emerge from the water, heading straight towards the kayak. Would be pretty fun for everyone except the guy in the kayak. 😬

Just found this - Lemon Shark in McCovey Cove. Also - is McCovey Cove part of San Francisco Bay? I thought it was. And how far off is Alcatraz? I thought the old rumor was those inmates who escaped could have been eaten by sharks?

I thought the old rumor was those inmates who escaped could have been eaten by sharks? Sure, it's possible that a shark would be swimming there, it is the Pacific Ocean after all. Alcatraz is a remote island in the Bay, much more likely to attract seals, which would then attract sharks. The Giants ballpark sits on a very busy, very full of activity part of the Bay. Not a prime spot for seals to hang out in, therefore probably not too many sharks would be swimming there. They're definitely out there, though, make no mistake. Many years ago, I was swimming pretty deep in Santa Cruz and I felt something swim right next to me. It didn't touch me, but no doubt I could "feel" it real close. It was probably a seal, but I wasn't about to investigate any further. I made a beeline back to the shore as fast as my fat ass could go. 😂

Fantastic footage, that was a big boy shark for sure. The first video I've never seen, but it was WAY cool to hear Kruk and Kuip discuss a shark sighting at a Giants game!

Man, this brings back so many memories. This was before my time but as a little kid in the 70s, making that walk up to the stadium there was so exciting for me, then walking into the stadium, seeing all that green grass and the strong smell of cigars and pipes. Of course, the Giants severely sucked those years but as a little kid, you didn't care as much. FYI: I own two seats from the stadium. I should take a picture and post tomorrow.

My favorite part of that classic sketch? Watching a coked up John Belushi imitating a coked up Richard Dreyfuss! Ahh, the 70's......

Third car from the right is a 1960 Buick. The rose coral colored car farthest to the right is a 1958 Plymouth of some sort. Probably not a 58 Plymouth Fury because nearly all of those cars came off the line in a beige white with anodized gold trim. Any other color would have to be a custom job specifically ordered from the factory so it's probably a 4 door Belvedere.
Chrysler built nice looking cars back in these days. Virgil Exner was the head designer behind the cars and he made some of the best looking cars from the late 50's-the early 60's. Unfortunately Chrysler went cheap on the build quality with the metals and these cars were heavily prone to rusting. Fenders rotting through with cancer spots inside of 5 years. Now these Exner era cars fetch a lot of money because so many rotted away to nothing or were sent to the crusher because they weren't worth saving. Untouched originals are tough to come by and they are a money pit to get up to show quality.
The white car, 2nd from the right between the Plymouth and the Buick is a 1956 Lincoln. Further down the line, the car next to what looks like a 1950ish Oldsmobile Looks like a 1960 Ford Falcon. The car to the left of the Falcon looks like a 1959 Lincoln. Can't tell if it's a Continental though.
Then that big bastard that is sticking a good 2 feet beyond his parking space, past everybody looks like a 61 or 62 Caddy. Brand spanking new! It's hard to see but the car sandwiched between the Caddy and the previously mentioned Lincoln is a 57 Chevy Wagon. I say it's a wagon because the roof line looks like it runs the whole length of where the car sits.
That's about all I can make out. The blue car sitting way back there by itself in the distance could be a buick of the mid-late 50's. That was the great thing about California weather. Most of the best preserved specimens of collector cars come from the West coast because it is dry and no rain so the cars didn't suffer from snow and road salt and dampness rotting them away to nothing.

I'll take the picture tonight for sure. If there's a fire in my house, I go for the 500 home run club ball and those seats.
