Batman Returns (1992):The Avengers (2012):For me, Batman Returns (1992) wins and it's not even close, IMO.

I loved Batman Returns. I vote The Avengers though.
Batman Returns survived the aging process the best of the previous millennium's Batmans. It fired on all cylinders, but so did Avengers and Avengers aimed further and landed further.

I prefer Avengers. If you'd have asked about the original Batman then that would have been tough.
Batman Returns went too far down the bizarre path for me. The original went just far enough but the sequel was a bit much. Enough so that Batman Forever went a completely different route.

Batman Returns is one of my favorite movies so that wins quite easily. Avengers is no slouch though, either it or Endgame are my favorite superhero movie of the decade.

Both are great but there's not enough Batman in Returns for me. So Avengers takes it.

Considering Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were terrible when they came out, that's a pretty low bar. The Burton stuff is funky but still enjoyable to this day, the Schumacher stuff was always garbage.

Avengers, Returns is too much of a Burton jerk off session for me to put it above Avengers, but it is still fun, though Devitto still creeps me the fuck out as Penguin, I saw this as a 5 year old and I dunno when he bit the dude it freaked me the fuck out, keep in mind I had no issue with Arnie punching a hole through a guy in Terminator at that age or any part of Predator, Penguin though yeesh.

The Avengers, but as a previous poster noted, Batman Returns has aged the best of that era and has always been my favorite.

Batman Returns isn't a Batman movie. It's a Tim Burton movie where he was inconvenienced with having to include Batman in it....

The Burton stuff is funky but still enjoyable to this day, the Schumacher stuff was always garbage. I didn't hate them but they were pretty bad. They're practically schlock. Heh, the Bat credit card. Never leave home without it. To this day though I really liked Danny Devito as Penguin. I was 7 I think when it came out and he freaked the shit out of me. Catwoman too a bit.
I haven't watched it in years but the last time I did as a grown adult, I still find it difficult watching Selina Kyle trash her apartment. It's not rated R or anything but I distinctly recall it being one of the first sort of darker movies I'd seen. Back in the days when you couldn't pay me to sit still through a movie.

I did like the interpretation of Penguin though. I found him much more interesting than the other versions of the character, the snobby monacle wearing english man.
