Orange Crush with another shootout win in OT - this time 3-2 against the Bruins....err....Cubs. That's 10-5-2 folks. Now 3 pts from 2nd in the Metropolitan. Fly or Die! Shootout wins aren't really actual hockey victories. Yeah, you get the extra point cuz your Pac-man ate more ghosts than mine or whatever it is they do, but us old-school folk call that a tie, a sister-kisser. Good game, though, and your Flyers are off to a nice start this year.

Bigot Don Cherry launched into a xenophobic rant about immigrants not respecting Canadian traditions. Jingoistic nonsense about everyone apparently needing to buy and wear poppies. I remember saying he’d worn out his welcome on TV years ago and was told he’s the best part of Coach’s Corner.

(I live in a bubble that keeps most 'news' out)

Sidney Crosby out 5-6 weeks with a sports hernia. Where you at, wolfman?

Sidney Crosby out 5-6 weeks with a sports hernia. Where you at, wolfman ? Who needs him as Pens destroy Leafs 6-1. Toronto doesn't look good right now. Whoever's in charge of the PP must be feeling some heat. No team grit. Is any team that plays the Leafs afraid of the physical aspect of their game? I don't know who should get more blame for how this team is made up: GM Dubas or coach Babcock. This doesn't look like a team that can win a round in the playoffs, assuming they can even make them.

Time for Babcock to go. That room needs a new voice.

5 out of the last 6 of the Orange and Blacks games have gone into OT. Guess that's a good sign we're not getting obliterated and hanging around in games. 1 pt out of third in the Metropolitan. FLY OR DIE!

FLY OR DIE! 2 things. You simply do not blow a 3-0 3rd period lead and you don't get nearly shut out by the Senators. The Flyers are not playoff contenders.

The NHL regular season is about as relevant as the last season of Dexter - all you have to do is 'get in' to make some noise - i.e. last year we had two #8 seeds beat the #1. It's pretty much about the last two weeks of the regular season. All you have to do is hang around all year and you can pretty much jump from the #13th seed to the #4 seed in a span of no time since there's so much parity in the league. Every year we have a couple of dominant teams, a couple of complete duds - and everybody else is pretty much lumped together fighting for seeding the final couple of weeks of the year. Granted it's early in the year - if the playoffs started today - they'd be in.

I mean, they'll probably get in this year because it seems like it's been a trend for them to get in every other year then lose in the first round. Believe me, you're not going to find a bigger Flyer fan than I but this team is FAR too inconsistent to be any kind of a contender. They still don't have a legit scoring threat, their defense is still shaky, and goaltending is here today and nothing tomorrow. I mean, it would be nice to see another Cup before I die. They haven't won one since I was 10.

It's early and they're 10-6-4. Jesus Christ some of you fans are just pissy whiners and haters.

Leafs fire Mike Babcock, replaced by Marlies head coach (& inevitable successor) Sheldon Keefe.
Not a great look, but this pricy youth movement is on the clock & not getting any younger either. 2 playoff losses to the same Bruins team, & now 2019-20 starting to have way too many repeat efforts. They gave him enough rope & chances, it just wasn't the best fit for either side anymore. He'd actually probably be good with this bunch 5-7yrs from now when they're wiser players.
Zero concern about the money, the Leafs print their own & this isn't a cap issue.
I'm glad Babcock was here, got his kick at the can. Now it's Kyle Dubas' guy for likely at least through 2020-21 season. Then who knows.

Dubas should fall on his sword as he traded away or let go character guys in the off season. Face it, the club is soft built on small European forwards and poor goaltending, thats on him.

Babcock's contract was front loaded so he's gotten a majority of his money. While I'm not Babcock's biggest fan, this roster was Dubas' so I blame him almost equally. But the Leafs let Lamoriello go to keep him so there was no way he was getting fired. I don't think he makes it out of next year without some playoff success.

Didn't realize Leaf d-man Barrie who scored 59 points for Colorado last year, a big chunk of which were on the PP, didn't play on the first unit! A PP that's been mediocre didn't use an asset like Barrie? Of course he scores his first goal as a Leaf tonight, although not on the PP. A nice FU to Babcock.
