IMDb was listed on a page with movie-related websites at the back of one of the annual editions of Videohound's Golden Movie Retriever. I LOVED those books, but oddly, that tip-off to IMDb made that book obsolete to me, as I could get all the info about movies I needed for free instead of buying a big old book.

Too long ago to remember. Was looking for a site to do some film related research and seemed to have stumbled upon it. Did not find the chatting areas until years later. The Golden Retriever book is still very handy to use when playing some of the movie related games.

I was looking up the then-new Halloween movie, which ended up being the forever-shitty Halloween: Resurrection.

I was looking for information on some film and discovered a site that collected data about films. I then discovered that I could waste a vast portion of my life having pointless arguments about almost anything and that was it...
My life was ruined.

I found it shortly after I first got on the net back in '97. I did a search for the filming locations to the original Halloween, and it sent me to the filming locations section of the Halloween imdb page.

My uncle told me about it sometime in the late 90s. I was addicted to it for a long time, mainly for the forums. Too bad imdb decided they knew better than their users.

I have no idea. It was a long time ago--maybe 1997-98.

They knocked on my door on a Saturday around noon. Two nicely dressed people. They asked me if I'm happy with my current internet browsing experiences, and asked if I am interested in movies and television. I told them I was definitely interested in movies and television. They explained to me that they can offer me a better and more fulfilling experience with the internet and movies. They gave me a nice informational piece of literature, which had a picture of a man showing a website to a small group of friends. He looked very confident and knowledgeable, and his friends all looked very interested.
I went to the website and liked what I saw and heard there. So I joined. For many years I enjoyed it, but found it very hard to leave the site. I was questioning IMDb since I was prohibited from celebrating other websites. Even when I was questioning what IMDb was offering me - I just couldn't break free. When IMDb made the decision to abolish it's message boards, a lot of followers splintered off. Being a committed believer, I found IMDb v2.
I am currently going door-to-door on my Saturdays recruiting new believers.

In the year of our Lord, I can't remember when, I was looking for some information on the sketches/art-work, used in the opening credits for the film Summertime.
Something came up on the screen that combined the phrases ... "IMDb," "I Need to Know," and "Message Boards." It was much like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. This has been my weird reality, ever since.
Tea, anyone??
