3 games today, only one that matters. That one is, of course, the Mighty Dragons taking on Brisbane for the NRLW premiership. Not quite as important is the National State Championship game between the Newtown Jets of NSW and the Burleigh Bears of QLD. Last, and certainly least is a game between two teams no one gives a toss about, Roosters and Canberra playing for something called the NRL Premiership. Don't think it will ever catch on...
State Championship undrlerway. Burleigh have started the better, but Newtown lead 2-0 after a 19th minute penalty.

And in goes Don again after five eigth Phythian swoops on a sloppy pass and runs 60 metres before handing off to the support man. Fogarty makes no mistake and it's 10-2 after 31 minutes.

Dumb ass Jets center Molitalo jars the ball loose with a perfect tackle and then gives away a penalty heading the vanquished opponent in the chest and gets 10 in the bin for sheer idiocy. Phylian off having an HIA due to friendly fire. Bears up 10-2 at the half with Newtown a man down until roughly the 49th minute.

Don throws a low pass which is knocked on, but it's a Billy Slater play with Fogarty accidentally kicking the ball and running onto his own kick to score under the posts! Converts hus own try 16-2 49 minutes in.

Soectacular try to Newtown! Winger Katoa straddles the sideline and then does a flip over the Bears fullback to ground the ball one handed. No luck on the conversion. 16-6 with about 25 minutes to play.

Another lucky try, this one to Newtown with the ball ricocheting off a Newtown defender's boot into the arms of charging forward Ferres who runs 50m to score. Conversion missed again. Bears lead trimmed to 16-10.

Unbeluevable finish! Newtown win in the siren. Bears had the ball with 25s left, but were unsuccessful in getting the ball out of play on the last. The Jets then chip kick on the second and that oval ball bounces away from well positioned defenders into tge arms of Ferres who runs 40 to score the winner under the posts. Converted. Newtown 20-16 Burleigh your final.

McGregor scores again for Brisbane. Dragons just can't hold on to the ball. Looking like 92 revisited. 10-0 after 18.

Sigh. Dragons keep gifting Broncos territory and they go in again. Winger Robinson scores in the corner. Ward converts 18-0.
Haven't given ourselves a chance today.

Full time Brisbane 30-6 St George. Anyway the combination of a 4am start tomorrow and my lack of enthusiasm to see the Roosters win means I'm out. Night all.

Well. Another Rugby League game marred by an absolute shocker of a call by a referee. I’m glad I’m not a Raiders fan.

Glad I didn't stay up for that. Checked out of this season a long way back and that would have had me fuming for hours.
