Here is my recap and analysis of Week 5’s games
Colts defeat Chiefs 19-13. Huge win for the Colts, they did an excellent job going in to Arrowhead and beating the undeafeated Chiefs, they had a great game plan, they rushed the ball very well, keeping the Chiefs off the field, and were in control for most of the game and their defense did a good job of penetrating and getting pressure on Mahomes. The Colts also won despite several key injuries, making their win even more impressive, they are a talented team and will be right in the playoff race IMO. The Chiefs are a very good team but they have some issues on defense IMO and their rushing attack could improve, this game exposed some of their weaknesses.
Packers defeat Cowboys 34-24. Packers dominated early and held on for the win, their offense had a nice balance with a big game for Aaron Jones and Rodgers made some nice plays, while their defense made some stops and picked off Prescott 3 times. The Packers are one of the NFC’s top teams and this was a big road win for them, their defense is vastly improved this season, while I’m still just unsure of how good the Cowboys are, they are a good team but how good I don’t know, their defense didn’t play well today.
Texans defeat Falcons 53-32. Texans offense rebounded from their lousy outing last week, Watson was marvelous and they scorched the Falcons, and they look like probably the AFC South’s best team. The Falcons are struggling badly, their defense is atrocious, they cannot tackle or get stops and they give up a ton of big plays, I think it’s time to fire Quinn as the defense has just regressed this year and their excellent offense is being wasted, they need to make a coaching change and totally rebuild the defense IMO, I think their 2019 playoff chances are over now.
Saints defeat Buccaneers 31-24. Saints continue to play great football despite Brees’ injury, Bridgewater had a great game and carved up the Bucs defense, Thomas with a huge game receiving and the Saints defense slowed down the Bucs strong passing attack. The Saints look like one of the NFL’s best teams and they have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, I’m unsure what to make of the Bucs, they have a very good passing attack but their secondary is bad and the rest of their defense and their rushing attack is iffy.
Panthers defeat Jaguars 34-27. Panthers continue to play very well with Allen at QB, McCaffrey with another huge game, he’s an outstanding RB, and the Panthers suddenly have a winning record after a bad start, they will be interesting to watch going forward. The Jags will be interesting to watch going forward as well, Minshew played very well despite losing, and I’m curious to see how good their defense is, if Ramsey returns, and if Minshew continues his strong play.
Ravens defeat Steelers 26-23. Ravens pull out a win in OT despite a bad performance from Jackson, their defense and rushing attack was enough to get them the win, I’m not sure how good the Ravens are, while the Steelers lost Rudolph and were down to a 3rd string QB, they are hopeless for this season IMO, they don’t have a lot on either side of the ball and they are going to have to rebuild on offense.
Bills defeat Titans 14-7. Bills win again behind their strong defense, it’s one of the best in the NFL, and their offense did just enough, I like this Bills team and think they will be right in the playoff race. The Titans continue to be wildly inconsistent and I never know what to expect from them each week, I have no idea what to make of them.
Raiders defeat Bears 24-21. Huge upset in London, the Raiders are better than everyone expected, they have some talent on both sides of the ball, Jacobs with a big game rushing, and they have a winning record. Bad loss for the Bears, they laid an egg and their offense isn’t that good because of their weakness at the QB position and their defense had an off day, I’m still unsure of how good the Bears are.
Broncos defeat Chargers 20-13. Bad choke job by the Chargers, losing to the lousy Broncos, Rivers had a bad game, they had no rushing attack and their defense allowed a couple of big plays. I do not trust the Chargers, they haven’t performed up to their talent level so far. Broncos get their first win but they aren’t going anywhere IMO, their offense is weak and their defense isn’t that good either.
Vikings defeat Giants 28-10. Vikings opened up their offense finally, Cousins with over 300 yards, they have a very talented offense that hasn’t played up to its potential until today, I expect going forward they will improve, I think this week served as a wake up call for them, they are a talented team that will be right in the playoff race IMO. Giants are weak, their defense is really bad and needs to be improved at each level, they aren’t going anywhere.
Patriots defeat Redskins 33-7. Pats with another win, they stay unbeaten and look like the NFL’s best team, they are very strong on both sides of the ball. The Redskins on the other hand look historically awful, they have very little talent on both sides of the ball and an uncertain situation at QB, they may be the worst team in the NFL.
Eagles defeat Jets 31-6. Eagles controlled the game from start to finish, they have a winning record now and because of their offensive talent I think they will stay right in the playoff race. Jets are depleted and still in a rebuilding process, they won’t win much this season.
Cardinals defeat Bengals 26-23. A battle between 2 lowly teams, Kingsbury and Murray get their first win, but the Cards still have a lot of work to do before they become competitive, while the Bengals need a new QB badly and are very low on talent.
Any thoughts?

How cruelly ironic would it be if the Colts made it to the Super Bowl after Luck got fed up with their past failures as a franchise and walked?

How cruelly ironic would it be if the Colts made it to the Super Bowl after Luck got fed up with their past failures as a franchise and walked? Luck was fed up with constantly being in physical agony, not the Colts' past failures. Unless of course you meant their failure to protect him for years and years.

Pats got off to a slow start yesterday but eventually figured it out. Brady had what I'd call a 'frustration pick' yesterday (as opposed to the standard 'bonehead pick' against Buffalo). He was about to be hit for what felt like the 30th time and just lobbed the ball toward the end zone. If Gordon was over there I can understand a jump ball, but there was zero chance James White was going to outjump two defenders for that ball. They took care of business but they need to do something about that O-Line soon.

Real irony must be what jimanchower is feeling right now. I remember him alleging Brady was a system QB and saying he wished Luck could've played like Brissett when Brissett got the start while Brady was suspended and Garoppolo was injured. (Brissett's stats were terrible in that game, so I mocked jim for that and never got a reply). Nice to see Brissett playing well, I was actually rooting for the Colts last night. (AFC playoff seeding is at stake.)

Luck being fed up with inept coaching and substandard o lines who played like they didn't give a fuck and parted like the red sea as soon as the ball was hiked. Being injured too much for too little gain and he probably figured the Colts were not going anywhere soon. Just everything in general!
Course he leaves and now Indy is farting roses and lemon drops! Poor guy. Somebody in a mythical position must be getting a cheap laugh at messing with his career!

The Colts are 3-2. It’s not like all of a sudden they’re the Montana 49ers now. Good win for them yes but it’s not like the Chiefs lost to Helen Keller U.

Even last year though, they didn't match up well with teams with good defenses. They say. "Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships." . . . Well, the Chiefs sell a lot of tickets . . . The Colts may have laid a blueprint for beating the Chiefs --- good defense and run the ball down their throats. And same ole Chargers . . . 👎👎👎

Just to vent for a quick second....
sigh....
I lost in fantasy this week ending my undefeated streak at 4-0 DESPITE having McCaffrey giving me 53.7 points and my opponent starting Phillip Dorsett who got a 0.
I lost 159.1 to 140.3
I faced Deshaun Watson who scored 41.7, Le'Veon Bell who got 23.4, Derrick Henry who got 24, Edelman got 25, Austin Ekeler (WITH MELVIN GORDON BACK) had 22.3.
I had big let downs by the likes of Carson Wentz with 12.1, OBJ with 5, Darren Waller with 7.9, and TY Hilton with 7.7.
Meanwhile DJ Chark produced 36.4 points on my bench.
Sigh....feel sorry for me guys. I need your sympathy for my now dead undefeated fantasy team.
RIP Beanie Baby Hotel.

Sigh....feel sorry for me guys. I need your sympathy for my now dead undefeated fantasy team. RIP Beanie Baby Hotel. Not that this will make you feel any better but I won my matchup... wait for it... 175.20 to 175.14. I also have McCaffrey so he helps a lot. I have the Patriots defense who dominated as always. Matt Ryan and Calvin Ridley who both had great games. I had Chris Carson and DK Metcalf both go off on Thursday night. Zack Ertz and Wil Lutz rounding it off. All my players had finished by 4pm EST so I had a massive, massive lead that I thought my opponent would never even come close to, DESPITE him starting Deshaun Watson. He had some guys playing in the afternoon slot, but I wasn't that worried. Those players were: Courtland Sutton (70 yard TD), LA Chargers defense (3 sacks, 1 return TD, 1 Int) and... Aaron Jones. Yes, every freaking TD Jones scored sent daggers through me as my opponent inched closer and closer. The 4th TD almost did it. After that I was just hoping he'd be sat and stop getting yards. Finally, my opponent actually overtook me. BUT! Remember that play at the end where Jones ran in the opposite direction and got tackled for -10 yards? A GODSEND FOR ME. It put me back in the lead. Jones never touched the ball after that. On the next Packer possession, Rodgers safely took a knee. 175.20 to 175.14. That's a ridiculous scoreline because we both had unusually massive totals and the margin was that thin. Now I'm just waiting for stat corrections to screw me. My players have been hit by stat corrections 3 times this season already. Even a change of -1 yard would mean the difference between me winning and losing. I'm hoping though that we're already past the time where stat corrections are usually applied? The most annoying thing is that I stupidly benched Josh Jacobs (playing the Bears? No way will he have a good game!) for Curtis Samuel in the FLEX spot. If I'd played him, I'd have scored about 200 points and wouldn't have to be so stressed about possible stat corrections. I also sat Michael Gallup because I thought he'd be limited after just coming back from surgery. Looks like we have the same record, 4-1. I lost in week 3.

The talent is still there, this is a team that was 12-4 last year. They've had rough injuries on defense (Derwin James), tight end (Hunter Henry) and left tackle (Russell Okung). All of those guys will be back, plus Melvin Gordon will get better. They look shaky now, but could still get hot and at least stay in the wild-card hunt. But at the same time, they have looked awful at times. The game on Sunday against Denver was embarrassing. Only touchdown was on a long punt return, offense was lifeless and defense played weak.

I love fantasy stories. My current money league I blew it. Yet in my longtime dynasty league which is lazy and differs on what year is worth money or not I got a win to go 3-2. Won 164.6 to 129.8 because I have Aaron Jones, Cooper Kupp, and George Kittle. He also oddly started a 0 in Mike Evans.

The Saints just beat the Seahawks in Seattle. They were winning 27 to 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Then they shifted to the prevent defense allowing the Seahawks to go up and down the field slowly until they ran out of time. The Saints are improving every week with Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback. 3 weeks from now, Drew Brees will be back. Seems like wishful thinking.
