Do you say 2019 as numbers? Or do you say it as the mouthful, "Two thousand nineteen?"
I used to say it as the mouthful then it made sense to say it as the numbers as we did for the previous century. We never said "Nineteen thousand ninety seven." We said, "1997." So it only makes sense to keep on doing that with the two thousands!

Yes, I remember when NFL BLitz games were the first to do this
( i.e. "NFL Blitz Twenty-Oh-Two!" )
It sounded odd at the time, but I am glad it eventually caught on.

As you said, for consistency with previous centuries, I endeavour to say Twenty-nineteen, Twenty-eighteen, etc. Even try to go with Twenty-hundreds as opposed to Two-thousands when mentioning the previous decade.

That doesn't surprise me. Anything that resembles "Meow" you would say it that way.

I use all the versions freely. Twenty Nineteen, Two Thousand and Nineteen and also രണ്ടായിരത്തി പത്തൊൻപത് (raṇṭāyiratti patteānpat).

I alternate between two thousand nineteen and twenty nineteen. It depends on the situation. I'm aware that the former way was not customary but it seems to work for this period in time so why not use it while it works?

I like saying it the proper way, “Two-Thousand and Nineteen.”
However the opposite applies to many years in past centuries. Ex. I say 1999 like “Nineteen Ninety-Nine.”
