Five Star Final Eddie G. wrestles with his conscience. City Editor Joseph Randall knows what makes good journalism, but he also knows what sells papers: scandal. And he knows it's what the publisher wants, so at the boss's behest, he dredges up the 20-year-old murder case of Nancy Vorhees, who's been living a quiet life of anonymity since the killing of her underworld boyfriend was found justifiable in court. Mervyn LeRoy stylishly directs Robinson's always-fine work, which is supported by the able likes of Aline MacMahon, H.B. Warner, Marion Marsh and Boris Karloff. Robinson burns up the phone lines... ...gives inebriated religion reporter Karloff his marching orders... ...gets needled by secretary MacMahon... ...compulsively washes his hands while doing a dirty job... ...and gives the boss a piece of his mind.

No Time for Love (1943) Directed by Mitchell Leisen . The third pairing of six films starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray. Colbert plays Katherine Grant a high class photojournalist assigned to cover the Interborough Vehicular River Tunnel project in New York City. A woman in the tunnel ! while underground Grant causes great distress to the superstitious workers and meets under difficult circumstances the handsome foreman, rugged labourer Jim Ryan... Wonderful cast and direction, a delightful light drama, romantic comedy Interesting to note that Colbert's Katherine Grant character is based on/inspired by Margaret Bourke-White. She was Life magazine's first female photojournalist a pioneer who famously portrayed stylized photos of industrial subjects. Her photographs of the construction of the Fort Peck Dam were featured in and on the cover of Life's first issue, November 23, 1936, her dynamic portraits are said to have initiated a new era of photojournalism...
