Apocalypse Now - The helicopter blades morphing into the sound of the ceiling fan. Saving Private Ryan - Gave my surround system such a work out, it's ready for Mr. Universe. King Kong (1933) - Some of the best screams from any movie, especially how they immediately cease when falling into the gorge.

Some of the sounds in The Evil Dead (1981) are absolutely horrifying.

Some of the sounds in The Evil Dead (1981) are absolutely horrifying. Or sometimes the lack of any sound.

Gattaca, its surreal sound template throughout. Set in a fictionalized future filled with fictionalized sounds. I love Gattaca, my #40 all time.
