All I know about this movie is they reused props of desiccated corpses for The Mummy (1999)

Disappointed with the scenario, phoned in performances and lack of scares\chills, considering this was a Tobe Hooper effort. However, I did like the beautiful 80's optical effects of the life forces being drained.

I was like "Oh, this was made solely to show a really hot girl walking around naked for an entire movie. Brilliant!"

I actually think it is Pretty Underrated. I agree. I also think it's a lot like the movie I would make if given the resources of a large movie studio.

Disappointed with the scenario, phoned in performances and lack of scares\chills, considering this was a Tobe Hooper effort. However, I did like the beautiful 80's optical effects of the life forces being drained. If you don't mind me asking, What did you think of the Special Effects in the Movie overall ? It has been a while since I last viewed. I do own on blu ray, bought cheap and haven't gotten around to watching yet. Like already mentioned, I think the lifeforce optical effects were stunning and some of the make-up effects were state of the art for the time, but I didn't really care for the space scenes in the beginning. Too cheesy looking, however, they did have a surreal quality about them.
I think the visual effects were the main problem with the film and lack of suspense. It appears so much effort was made to make the film look spectacular, it lost some lifeforce in the process. Railsback was never a very good actor and the English pros that padded it out were just hamming it.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the feel and tone of Hooper's Invaders From Mars the following year. While more pg family orientated, the atmosphere here was quite spot on, a nice homage to the 50's sci\fi horror flicks and the film was a lot of fun to watch. The kid wasn't that great, but we get Karen Black, Louise Fletcher and James Karen to round it all out. The potato head creatures were a hoot too.
