Wade Miley and Myles Straw are the two casualties from the NLDS group. Miley would have been a candidate to start game four, but momentum has moved increasingly to Jose Urquidy to get the nod for that game. Straw appeared in games 1 and 2 of the ALDS as a pinch-runner, but he is a numbers casualty here as the Astros decided to carry a 12th pitcher.www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/10/wade-miley-left-off-astros-alcs-roster.htmlwho knew what & when???!

Miley was god awful in September. He only made it out of the 5th once in his last five starts (that was a blowout against KC). He gave up 7 runs in a third of an inning against Oakland, four runs in one inning against the Trout-less Angels, and five runs without recording an out against the woebegone Mariners. Maybe his arm is dead. But I's still rather go with Wade Miley than a rookie. His postseason stats aren't bad.

You simply cannot start a rookie in a big game like this. The second they get into trouble, they unravel. Rick Ankiel, Salomon Torres (not a playoff game technically, but it might as well have been).

Rick Ankiel, Salomon Torres (not a playoff game technically, but it might as well have been). That Ankiel thing was crazy. He had such a brilliant rookie year too. Was it the NLDS where he first developed the yips or was it the last game of the year? I remember he started a game in the NLCS against the Mets after that, he sailed two balls in the 1st inning and TLR got him right out of there.

There's a whole chapter in LaRussa's Three Nights in August about Ankiel and his pitching woes. I think he said that it was the biggest mistake he made as a manager.
One of the poster boys for "The Yips" with Steve Blass and Mackey Sasser (not limited to pitchers)

Sasser I remember quite well. Chuck Knoblauch too. Didn’t Steve Sax have yips issues? Couldn’t throw the ball to first or something?

I don't get all the Miley stuff, nutsberry? Is he a relative of yours or something? He was absolute garbage in September, which is why he's not playing in the playoffs.

has anyone talked to wade miley? Surely someone really low on the Astros management depth chart asked Wade to clean up all his shit and get his stupid truck out of the parking lot.
