Digitally de-aged Robert Englund. Do you even need to de-age him? He's caked in burn makeup so it's never that clear how old he is. Plus Craven envisioned Freddy as an old man but cast young Englund despite his age, so old Englund is arguably more fitting. |

What does it matter? Not only does Freddy's 3" think makeup hide the actor's face, but he has just one shtick that he does over and over. No need to talk about motivation, character develop, or expressions of different emotions. To wit, you don't really need an actor.

I haven't seen it in ages, but I remember Jackie Earle Haley being pretty good despite the movie itself being so so.
I could totally see Kevin Bacon pulling it off.
Walton Goggins is also a great underdog pick.
Unfortunately, I don't think most people will ever accept anyone besides Robert Englund.
