And do you expect everybody in the room to agree with your views on these movies because an acclaimed filmmaker spoke negatively about them? Last I checked film was subjective, and as history tends to repeat itself older artists tend to be critical of newer art. Did you know that HG Wells, one of the titans of science fiction, called the classic silent epic Metropolis terrible? Should we all adjust our opinions because he thought so when released?

we need a comment from Clint Eastwood I see it coming. I knew this massive backlash was coming ever since Endgame cheated its way to the number 1 film ever. not only was it embarrassing to comic movies everywhere because it was not one of our intellectual comic films but I saw the signs more when no one said congrats to endgame.
What Scorsese and Francis are troubled about is how brain-ducked this mcu movies are. its almost fascinating to them.
Where's the movie critics though? its not good Francis and Scorsese are doing their jobs.
Doesn't count as cheating if Avatar and Titanic had already done it. Also many people including James Cameron congratulated Endgame for the number 1 spot. Endgame totally deserves the number one spot. Also it was no more intelligent than Nolan's trilogy or X-Men. |

Fox-men is still better than the theme park MCU movies because they were mature movies with an adult tone. DOFP shits on Endgame. How many cgi fest is in DOFP? where is fat thor in DOFP? where is bad time travel plot in DOFP. its totally Despicable to put any kiddie mcu movie with Logan. its insulting to cinema. DC has bad seeds but that is what they are, bad seeds, MCU movies are despicable and are actually hurting cinema.
Some MCU fans are devoid of logic, did you not read and digest their problems with MCU. they hate it because they look like theme parks and don't teach anything. so why would they all of a sudden hate the other comic movies that don't look like theme parks or video games and have a message like many fox men and DC movies that actually had a real message. It must come as a big shock to mcu fans when they realised MCU have the worst movies. they are now taking their anger out at Foxmen and DC.

I respect all of these guys, I'm a huge fan of their work. But these comments are bizarre. They come off as grumpy old men who are completely out of touch or worse, they're just throwing their hat into the Marvel ring to draw attention to themselves because their afraid the industry is starting to pass them by. The Marvel films are all well reviewed by critics and loved by audiences. That makes them successful whether the old guard likes it or not. You don't need to list the career accolades of somebody like Scorsese or Coppola; their filmographies speak for themselves. Their opinions are respected by film fans, even if they're wrong. If the audience wasn't inspired, enlightened or finding enjoyment from these films, they wouldn't keep going back 20+ films later. Clearly something about these films is resonating with audiences, even if the subject matter doesn't translate for some of the most legendary directors of our time. I find all of this disappointing because you'd think these guys would be more respectful toward other successful filmmakers. Cameron, Fincher, Scorsese and Coppola; all of them are industry giants and have made films on my list of personal favorites. I wonder how they'd feel knowing I also enjoy Marvel films? They shouldn't feel threatened by the Marvel behemoth, they should be glad some studios still know how to churn out successful films to help keep the industry alive in theaters as opposed to streaming services.

That video just made me remember how epic that scene is and how none of the films you mentioned above come close to being as epic. Fox-Men is not more mature than the MCU and if you think it's more mature then it definitely isn't. DC and Fox-Men all use CGI and in some cases their CGI is not as good as the MCU's. Also DOFP was no better than Endgame. The only one devoid of logic here is you. |

Maybe, except for one fact you are missing...this all kicked off after Scorsese was asked specifically about the MCU. And Scorsese said films like Marvel for example...why? Probably because they are the dominant studio for these films. It doesn't exclude the others you mention from that category. As for Copolla he was asked about Scorsese's comments. It's not like these two have stood up arbitrarily and denounced all Marvel films (many of which they admit not seeing). If you were not using a summers8 level of comprehension you would undertand this.

I left both movies with more information of how prejudice can destroy humanity if the issues are not tackled in DOFP. I left batman begins thinking about how crime can ruin society if it is not dealt with. these were the main focus of the stories in both films.
Speaking of both films, why can't thor just deal with his trauma like Bruce does in batman begins our Xavier in dofp? why does thor have to be a kiddie clown. makes no sense.
MCU is just nothing. they are fun pop corn flicks, most times very immature and they do look like theme parks.
