uk.ign.com/articles/2019/10/20/jared-letos-days-as-the-joker-are-reportedly-over-todd-phillips-joaquin-phoenixFollowing up on the original report claiming Jared Leto tried to stop the Todd Phillips/Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie while it was in development, sources have also told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor probably won't be reprising his version of the Joker in any future film. "Leto’s days as the Joker likely are over," THR states. They've really messed up over there huh? Lost Ben Affleck without having his own movie, lost Henry Cavill with him only having the one movie of his own and now lost Jared Leto who had only an extended cameo in Suicide Squad.

I wouldn't call no more Jared Leto Joker a "mess up" or "loss". Especially when the trade off is a $737 million dollar movie with Oscar talk that is #13 on the IMDb top 250.

Not too sorry about Leto or even Affleck to an extent, but the debacle with Cavill still pisses me off.

It is a shame, I think Leto could've been fantastic with a better screenplay and direction, I also am let down that we'll never see him and Ben Affleck's Batman interact on screen or learn more about their history and what led to that one night where Bats lost his sh!t and almost beat The Joker to death that resulted in a temporary retirement for Bruce Wayne and the Clown Prince of Crime to get a major makeover to hide his scars.

Was it ever stated that Affleck’s Batman went into retirement? The implication to me seemed to be that he was fighting crime nonstop for 20 years.

I believe Batfleck had been retired for two years at least before the Black Zero event in MOS.

It's really frustrating WB are breaking up the whole DCEU. All was not lost, they still could have recovered from Suicide Squad and Justice Leaugue instead of pressing the complete reset button. Joker has shown that all you need is a good director with vision and to leave him alone whilst they work. I don't want WB to continue down the solo's only department with rumours of Mr Freeze and other villain origin stories. There's not really any DC production I'm too hyped about right now. I'm not sold on The Batmans cast. Birds of Prey looks terrible. Suicide Squad is a unknown but with no Jared Leto or Will Smith I'm apprehensive. Wonder Woman 2 looks okay but I think will just be more of the same as the first.

Leto was in a terrible movie with terrible characterisation of Joker that isn’t his fault. He didn’t write it or direct it. He probably feels ripped off and I don’t blame him.

True but he also harassed and annoyed his co-stars by being a freak, sending Margot Robbie used condoms and shit, so I don't feel too sorry for him.

I never heard that, I hope it's true though otherwise Leto's fucked up in the head to think that's ok behaviour, but then also I don't feel too sorry for him either because he shot himself in the foot right out the gate with Suicide Squad by bitching about his scenes being cut, like Jared mate you got paid the same regardless, keep it schtum and maybe you get another movie out of this, keep flapping your lips and they'll cut you from future movies, and well he kept flapping time after time, it is sad because he probably could have delivered some cool stuff, but oh well.

I mean I was willing to give him another shot if he had appeared again but the only thing I really wanted him to do was fight Batfleck, since that isnt going to happen I guess we dont need him anymore. Shame tho I do wonder what he could have done if he was more Joker like.

The real problem is that instead of staying the course and making better movies as they moved on, they got scared and scrambled every time one of their movies didn't do quite as well as they wanted. If they had just stayed the course and made better sequels we would have gotten a pretty decent DCEU by now. Look at Wonder Woman. Look at Aquaman. Look at Shazam!
As for Jared Leto as Joker...? I think he's a very talented actor and would have been another great Joker if they had just made a good movie with him in it.
As for Leto leaving or them getting rid of him... at this point who cares? He's moved on (Sony's Morbius) and he's probably better off for it. Why put up with being 2nd string? In Morbius he's the lead!

Well, I kinda would've liked to see the movie where he and Harley actually break up because she gets tired of his shit. Apparently she's ALREADY broken up with him by the time Birds of Prey starts, so they basically skip over that. I also might've liked to see a movie where they go up against one another. Could've been fun.

Can you imagine signing up to be the Joker, and ending up with about seven minutes of screentime? However you feel about Leto's performance (and I wasn't a big fan), he got a raw deal.
