If people are hoping for Luke Skywalker to come back to life in " THE RISE OF SKYWALKER" then they should just stop hoping for that now because if what I heard many months ago is true (and I do think that it is) then he won't be.
Unfortunately I don't remember where I first heard this information which was actually many months ago otherwise I would most definitely post a link to it to prove it to you guys. That being said.....apparently, JJ Abrams told Mark Hamill back before filming began that Luke Skywalker was not going to be coming back to life in Episode 9.
Also apparently those Leaks that came out almost 2 months ago and the New Trailer that came out on Monday night all confirm it as well.
I will add though that they may currently be doing some re-shoots for the Movie, Now what they involve I have no idea but I wouldn't be surprised if the plan changed in which case I am going to reserve the right to be incorrect about all of this although I think that it is highly extremely unlikely.
That also being said, I myself am still okay with that.
It's not JJ Abrams fault that Luke was killed off and I don't think he, Chris Terrio, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and the rest of the Cast deserve any blame for what Rian Johnson did with "THE LAST JEDI". I just hope that JJ Abrams, Chris Terrio, and George Lucas (it was reported and confirmed that Lucas helped Abrams and Terrio re-write the 2nd and 3rd Acts of the Movie and also direct a couple of scenes as well) will still (at the very least) have Luke do something MAJOR and Cool as a Force Ghost.

If anyone thought they were going to pretend like TLJ didn't happen, they aren't too bright.

If anyone thought they were going to pretend like TLJ didn't happen, they aren't too bright. If you don't mind me asking, Are you okay with them not bringing Luke Skywalker back to life ?
As I said above, I myself am okay with it just as long as they do have him do something BIG (even as just a Force Ghost) in the Movie.

I personally was okay with his sacrifice at the end of TLJ. Even if I didn't like it, I still would have known that they were NEVER going to pretend like a major big budget release that made over a billion dollars never happened.

Personally I think Luke is going to stay dead. Also I think that if we see him as a force ghost it wont be to see him doing something cool. I think at best we'll get a cameo of him as a force ghost giving Rey some advice. Period. Like Obi Wan did in ESB and ROTJ. The Luke boat has sailed and Rian didn't take it anywhere interesting. Too bad.
BUT IF, IF... Luke were shown to not have died in the first place... that could be interesting. Sure, we saw him disappear, but do we know what that really means in force/Jedi?
But they'd have to do it in such a way that it was so cool it would blow us all away, and personally I don't think JJ or anyone over Disney or Lucasfilm has the know how to do that.

That being said, I still don't think Luke is coming back to life in "THE RISE OF SKYWALKER".
I think he will only be in it as a Force Ghost and possibly a Flashback scene and that is it.

Dying from astral projection exhaustion to achieve the minor feat of stalling the Order for a few minutes is lame AF and everyone knows it.

Dying from astral projection exhaustion to achieve the minor feat of stalling the Order for a few minutes is lame AF and everyone knows it. Well, it is highly likely going to remain that way for Luke because just about everything coming out (The Supposed Unconfirmed Leaks, The Rumors, The Trailers, The Photos, The Information, The Possibility that Abrams told Hamill before filming began that Luke wasn't coming back to life, EVERY SINGLE THING coming out for the Movie!) for "THE RISE OF SKYWALKER" is all saying that Luke does not come back to life in it.
I hope that I am wrong but I don't think that I am, I think Luke is Not coming back to life in "THE RISE OF SKYWALKER".

Good. The less they use Lucas' characters, the better.

Good. The less they use Lucas' characters, the better. Well, This Below is what the Supposed Unconfirmed Leaks say when it comes to Luke Skywalker in "THE RISE OF SKYWALKER".
Luke will appear in a Flashback Scene at the beginning where he is briefly training Leia and then in 4 More Scenes later on as a Force Ghost.
The First is when Leia is on her Death Bed (apparently, she is dying of old age) and Luke then appears to her and tells her that there is just 1 more lesson for her to learn and then the 2 of them vanish (with Leia dying).
The Second is when Rey (after learning that she is The Emperor's Granddaughter) returns to the Island that Luke exiled himself on with the intention of doing the exact same thing to herself however just when she is about to throw her lightsaber out into the ocean, Luke catches it in mid air and then talks and convinces her to return and fight The Emperor and then after that, Luke raises his X-Wing out of the water and gives it to Rey (apparently, she crashed her own ship into the water when she first got there and it sank).
The Third is when after The Emperor sends a Redeemed Kylo Ren falling to his death, He is just about to defeat Rey (the entire time he has been using his force electricity from his hands to fight against Rey, Kylo Ren, and also destroy some Rebel Ships) when suddenly the Force Ghosts and both Luke and Leia appear and the 2 of them turn The Emperor's force electricity against him and then Rey kills him.
The Last is on Tatooine when Luke is watching Rey and her friends at the remains of the old Lars Residence and at 1 point, a stranger walks up to Rey and tells her that he hasn't seen people in those parts of Tatooine for a very long time and he then asks her who she is and she replies that she is Rey Skywalker after which she then notices nearby the Force Ghosts of Luke and Leia standing there watching and then the movie ends with Rey and her friends looking out at the 2 Sunsets with John Williams famous music playing right into the credits.
Again though, All of that has been Unconfirmed and also supposedly, Reshoots were happening after those Supposed Unconfirmed Leaks came out so I really don't know.

I’m going to reply to those spoilers, so spoiler alert! That last part seems nice but the other stuff is lame. Disappearing upon death is supposed to be for the most pure of beings is my thought (like Jesus going heaven body and soul). Leia only knew she had force sensitivity later in life. No way she’s pure. Han would have had her doing plenty of dodgy stuff in the bedroom. Seriously even Qui Gonn didn’t disappear. It’s pretty stupid.
And Leia helping in the fight? She wasn’t even a serious force user whilst alive. And dying of old age? So she’s this film’s Yoda? Plus she’s not old enough to die of ‘old age’. That’s stupid.

For me, Luke's story came full circle beautifully in The Last Jedi. After 40 years journeying with The Force, he finally became one with The Force after pulling off perhaps the greatest and most powerful Jedi mind trick ever -- the ultimate Jedi mind f**k. To me, that far surpassed Yoda raising Luke's X-wing fighter from the Dagobah swamp and was the most impressive Jedi power seen on the live-action screen thus far. An actual, "real-life" lightsaber fight would have been far more lame by comparison.
